Job summary

Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District is seeking a transportation professional to develop and maintain routing plans for regular education, special needs, and special program routes. You will ensure safe and timely runs, coordinate with campuses, and support field trips while complying with CFISD policies.

The role requires a Texas CDL with endorsements, experience in school transportation, strong communication, and proficiency with PC tools and transportation software.

Qualifications

  • Possess and maintain a clear and valid Texas commercial driver’s license with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements preferred.
  • One (1) years’ experience as a school bus driver or as a transportation professional preferred.
  • One (1) years’ experience routing in public schools preferred.
  • One (1) years’ technical experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate with diverse internal and external publics, in both verbal and written formats.
  • Proficient in the use of personal computer, Microsoft Office applications, e‑mail, internet and departmental specific applications, etc.
  • Ability to learn and efficiently utilize transportation services software and hardware.
  • Ability to read and understand documents including District policies and department guidelines.
  • Possess the ability to work under pressure and regularly meet deadlines.
  • Possess excellent customer service skills.
  • Competent in data management, record management, and general office procedures.
  • Ability to speak, read and understand the English language.
  • Ability to safely operate a school bus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the routing plan for regular education, special needs and special program responsibilities, including McKinney-Vento and Foster student programs, to ensure safe, timely, and efficient runs/routes in accordance with the Texas Education Agency and CFISD policies and department procedures.
  • Investigate internal route concerns, including direct observation of concern and electronic review of pertinent data
  • Develop and oversee regular and consistent student assignments to routes and reports to campuses, maintaining stop pool stops, assigning and routing employee student shuttles, health notations on routes
  • Support field trip operations as needed, including the billing process
  • Access and utilize printed/electronic user manual for installed equipment/printers
  • Maintain accurate, updated records of equipment inventory and customer support calls
  • Communicate route plans and modifications to the transportation personnel and school personnel, through approved transportation software
  • Communicate and collaborate with transportation personnel and school personnel to ensure appropriate routes are created to accommodate special needs student behaviors and their related equipment needs
  • Maintain and support installed equipment and software as well as campus needs
  • Troubleshoot driver/student ID card issues
  • Create and maintain and student information system access for all drivers and campus users
  • Answer and routing telephone calls
  • Assist in the production of requested reports, such as on-time performance, scan reports, etc.
  • Research and communicate issues and resolutions with school personnel
  • Assist with the execution of state counts, state routes, and the compilation of data for Texas Education Agency reporting
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and electronic reports, records, and other documents required
  • Serve as a substitute bus driver as needed
  • Maintain a clean and orderly workstation
  • Maintain confidentiality of information
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Salary/Pay Grade

$48,178 CP-8

Salary (based on verifiable job-related experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year.
