Job summary

The L.B. Foster Company in Texas seeks an Operations Specialist III to support plant safety, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement across EHS/CSI/ESG standards.

This role partners with Corporate EHS and ESG leadership to drive safety programs and lean manufacturing practices. Responsibilities include coordinating safety programs, onboarding and refresher training, developing JSA/SOP/VOP, and reporting safety metrics while guiding the workforce toward ongoing improvement and

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years' experience preferred.
  • LEAN and Project management experience; PMP certification a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to government environmental and safety standards by facilitating programs and scheduling training.
  • Coordinate safety-related programs with department and facility leaders and assess adherence.
  • Oversee EHS orientation and training for all facility employees; coach and be a resource in the plant.
  • Track and initiate training for hourly employees, including refresher training; use corporate software.
  • Develop, review and update JSA, SOPs, and VOPs as needed.
  • Organize daily safety topics for team huddles and participate in huddles.
  • Compile and report safety metrics for the plant and compare to industry standards.
  • Manage SOR card process and drive change initiatives.
  • Handle workers' compensation claims and coordinate with insurer and leadership.
  • Oversee EPA audits and ensure permits are in compliance with ISO-14001 and OHSAS-45001.
  • Implement ESG policies and training per Corporate ESG Manager guidance.
  • Manage project plans and roadmaps to drive accountability for ESG objectives.
  • Review and coach workforce using training materials to improve ESG ratings.
  • Schedule and manage monthly in-house SQCI audits.
  • Lead 5S, Lean projects, and corporate reporting.
  • Oversee company vehicle and CDL driver compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

As an Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for various support functions at plant in accordance with LB Foster, OSHA, EHS, ESG, and ISO standards, and employee training, including new hire and refresher. Responsible for implementation and training on continuous improvement and LEAN manufacturing techniques and corporate reporting of same. The Operations Specialist III is the plant liaison with Corporate EHS, CSI, and ESG leadership to drive company standards and safety programs.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the adherence to government-mandated environmental and safety standards for all associates by facilitating all programs, permits (i.e. stormwater) and scheduling training.
  • Coordinate and manage with department and facility leader’s safety-related programs, and the ongoing implementation and assessment of and adherence to these programs and practices.
  • Responsible and accountable for all facility employees EHS orientation, onboarding, and training. Visibility and presence in the plant coaching employees and being a resource is an expectation.
  • Track and initiate training for all facility hourly employees, initially and refresher using Corporate provided software.
  • Develop/review and update JSA’s, SOPs and VOP’s as needed.
  • Organize and provide daily safety topics for team huddles and participate in huddles.
  • Compile and report safety metrics for Company and individual plant and compare same to industry standards.
  • Responsible to manage SOR card process including receiving, logging, reporting back to workforce, and project manage change initiatives.
  • Manage workman compensation claims including reporting to insurance third party, coordination with assigned representative, transporting employees to medical facility, and working with leadership to manage light duty assignments.
  • Oversee EPA and all relevant program audits and the obtaining and upkeep of all required permits, all of which are in accordance with ISO-14001 and OHSAS-45001.
  • Responsible for the adherence to ESG policies, processes and trainings as outlined and implemented by the Corporate ESG Manager and roll out to plant level.
  • Manage project plans and roadmap to drive accountability and systematically identify the necessary steps, time, and resources at the plant level to achieve ESG objectives.
  • Review, monitor and maintain plant reporting as outlined by Corporate ESG Manager, and coach workforce using education and training materials to ensure compliance and continual improvement in ESG ratings.
  • Responsible to schedule and manage monthly in-house SQCI auditing.
  • Responsible for 5S, continuous improvement project implementation, Lean manufacturing training, and corporate reporting.
  • Managing of company vehicle and CDL driver compliance.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma required.
  • A bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent years' experience
  • 3 years of EHS, ESG and CSI experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 6 years of working in or supporting production in manufacturing environment.
  • LEAN and Project management experience required, PMP certification a plus
  • 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role, preferred.
