Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an experienced O&M project lead to plan, coordinate and deliver operations and maintenance projects of varying complexity. The role requires collaborating with sales on proposals and reviewing drafts for regulatory compliance.

You will mentor junior staff, provide technical guidance, and support business development activities including meetings with clients and preparation of project schedules and budgets.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or technical school certificate.
  • Class III operator certification in water, wastewater or industrial plants.
  • 7 years of related experience.
  • Travel up to 50% may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Conceive, plan, coordinate and lead O&M projects of small to medium scope and varied complexity.
  • Maintain liaison with internal/external teams; act independently on technical matters.
  • Collaborate with sales to create proposals in response to RFPs.
  • Review draft proposals for compliance with applicable regulations and best practices.
  • Meet with clients to review O&M needs.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff on project tasks.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior staff and support growth within the discipline.
  • Perform administrative duties including coordinating meetings and preparing schedules/budgets.

Job Description
  • With high-level goals provided, conceives, plans, coordinates and leads the completion of operations and maintenance projects of small to medium scope and basic to high complexity.
  • Maintains liaison with individuals and units within or outside the firm's organization with responsibility for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to O&M projects.
  • Collaborates with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposal (RFPs).
  • Reviews draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local and federal regulations and best practices.
  • Meets with current and potential future clients to review their current and future O&M needs.
  • Supervises the work of junior staff on project work.
  • Provides technical guidance and training to junior staff.
  • Mentors junior staff and develops them for growth within the discipline and firm.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Performs administrative duties, including coordinating meetings with clients, preparing project schedules and budgets; and assisting in preparation of proposals and other business development efforts.
  • Provides updates to clients, subcontractors, and contractors on project status, startup and scheduling.
Skills & Abilities

Solid knowledge of sampling and analyses techniques. Solid knowledge of the operations and maintenance of equipment, instrumentation, and other related physical plant assets. Solid verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read and follow technical manuals and follow verbal and written instructions. Solid knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Qualifications

Associate's degree or technical school certificate. Class III operator certification as water, wastewater and/or industrial plant operator. 7 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

An appropriate and valid driver's license is required.

Additional Pay Range Information

CDM Smith is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. This pay range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels for the geographic location assigned to the position. In addition to geographic location, a candidate’s salary is determined by several other factors including, but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, relevant work experience, skills, required certifications, and education/training.

Additional Compensation

All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
