Class Title

Class Features

The Airport Operation Specialist supports airport operations and all services related to safety and compliance, inspections, and emergency planning.

Duties

WORK PERFORMED

Under the general supervision of the Airport Operations Supervisor, incumbents in this class will perform varying assignments in support of airside, landside, security, and parking operations/ground transportation.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

• Ensure airfield safety and compliance, assist with emergency planning and wildlife management, general aviation, airport certification; public and employee parking facilities; ground transportation services; airport badging; access control/CCTV; Airport Communications Center.
• Perform airside and landside inspections under supervision to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
• Respond to aircraft or other emergencies and assist as needed.
• Serve as a liaison for the airport with tenants, FAA tower staff, other City staff, and the community.
• Monitor systems and maintain records concerning operational activities, including surveillance systems, fire alarms, door alarms, gate alarms, and building maintenance systems; complete incident reports.

Position will be assigned rotating shifts on a 24/7 basis.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education and experience reflecting the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Typically, a bachelor’s degree in aviation or a related field plus one year of airport operations experience preferred.
• Must pass and maintain SIDA and AOA clearance.
• Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Louisiana Driver’s License.
