Job summary

Orange County Utilities Field Services in Orlando, FL seeks an Operations Specialist to coordinate field support, manage work orders in Maximo, and ensure facilities operate reliably. You will review trades, respond to emergencies, and train new staff while maintaining inventory and reporting on status.

The role emphasizes independent judgement under supervision, with a 40-hour work week and potential weekend coverage as needed. A valid Florida driver's license is required.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent and three (3) years experience in water distribution, wastewater construction and/or operational and maintenance infrastructure; or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.
  • Based on area of assignment may be required to possess and maintain the appropriate certification or license.
  • Extensive experience with Maximo or an asset management system.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates activities performed by the work unit, schedules work activities to maintain facilities in efficient operating conditions, reviews work performed by a variety of trades, responds to emergency situations to correct operating problems in a timely fashion.
  • Work requires independent judgement under general supervision of a designated supervisor.
  • Coordinates support activities for work performed by field staff such as MOT, Geotechnical Densities, locates, inc.
  • Creates work orders using Maximo, coordinates with staff to resolve customer related issues
  • Performs Quality Control/ Quality Assurance on work orders from field activities before closing work orders
  • Receives calls from customers pertaining to potential emergencies requiring taking questions, investigating issues and coordinating with staff for resolutions
  • Coordinates with other departments to ensure work orders are routed to the correct work group
  • Reviews invoices from vendors for accuracy
  • Reviews schedules to assign work to groups and work with supervision to prioritize scheduled work
  • Provide reports on work status to schedule staffing
  • Able to run reports in Maximo on the history of work, current work and work needing to be assigned
  • Responsible for training new staff. Prepares and maintains spreadsheets. Enters Purchase requisitions into Maximo. Makes recommendations to establish or revise procedures
  • Maintains accurate inventory records for parts, materials, supplies, tools, and equipment assigned to the work unit, including receipts, issues, transfers, returns, adjustments, and other inventory transactions.
  • Receives, verifies, labels, organizes, stores, and issues inventory in accordance with established procedures; confirms quantities and condition of materials received and reports discrepancies or damaged items.
  • Performs routine cycle counts and periodic physical inventories; researches and reconciles variances between physical stock and inventory records and documents corrective adjustments as required.
  • Monitors stock levels, usage trends, reorder points, minimum/maximum quantities, identifies shortages, excess stock, obsolete items, and other conditions that may affect operational readiness.
  • Coordinates with operations, maintenance, purchasing, warehouse personnel, and vendors to support timely replenishment and availability of required materials and replacement parts.
  • Maintains inventory locations in a clean, orderly, safe, and secure condition; ensures materials are properly identified, stored, and protected from loss, damage, deterioration, or unauthorized use.
  • Maintains supporting documentation and inventory-control records and assists with audits, reviews, investigations, and reporting related to inventory accuracy, accountability, and usage.
  • Uses applicable computerized maintenance, asset-management, purchasing, or inventory systems to enter, update, retrieve, and report inventory information and to support material planning and work execution.
  • Follows County policies, procedures, internal controls, safety requirements, and applicable purchasing and property-accountability requirements related to inventory management.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Orange County Utilities provides water resources and solid waste recovery services to protect and enrich the lives of the citizens and guests of Orange County Florida. The Field Services Division is responsible for the inspection, testing, regulatory compliance, operation, and maintenance of over 4,800 miles of pipeline, over 11,000 fire hydrants, and about 870 wastewater pump stations.

Orange County Utilities Field Services is seeking qualified individual to fill the Operations Specialist position to work in the Field Support Center. Minimum Qualifications
