Job summary

Labcorp is seeking an Operations Scientist I for a day-shift role in Madison, WI. The position involves preparing bioanalytical samples and maintaining detailed lab records to support project timelines.

You will communicate with project managers and lead scientists, manage workload across multiple projects, and ensure equipment is maintained and consumables are ordered as needed. A high school diploma with laboratory experience is required; a BS/BA in chemistry or biology is preferred for growth

Qualifications

  • High school diploma with 2 years or more of laboratory experience.
  • Experience using laboratory equipment (e.g., balances, pipettes, centrifuges).
  • Experience with analytical instrumentation (for gas, liquids or solids).
  • BS/BA degree in chemistry or biology; GLP documentation experience; familiarity with LIMS and MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct bioanalytical sample preparations.
  • Document work and maintain study documentation and laboratory records.
  • Communicate with project managers, lead scientists, and supervisor on projects daily/weekly.
  • Order consumables for projects as needed.
  • Plan workloads and schedule multiple assignments daily.
  • Provide detailed sample analysis and inventory updates to project managers and lead scientists.

Operations Scientist I

Work Schedule - Mon - Fri (Day Shift)

Job Responsibilities
  • Conduct bioanalytical sample preparations
  • Document work and maintain study documentation and laboratory records.
  • Communicate with project managers, lead scientists, and supervisor on projects daily/weekly
  • Order consumables for projects as needed
  • Plan assigned workload on a daily basis and effectively schedule multiple assignments.
  • Provide detailed sample analysis and inventory updates to project managers and lead scientists to ensure projects meet agreed upon timelines
  • Set up, operate and perform routine and non-routine maintenance on general equipment
  • Attend and participate in project meetings
  • Support process improvement initiatives
  • Maintain a clean and safe laboratory work environment
  • Participate in client visits as needed
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma with 2 years or more of laboratory experience
  • Experience using laboratory equipment (e.g., balances, pipettes, centrifuges
  • Experience with analytical instrumentation (for gas, liquids or solids)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science/Arts (BS/BA) degree in chemistry, biology
  • 2 years or more experience working in a laboratory setting (e.g. balances, pipettes, centrifuges etc.)
  • GLP Documentation experience
  • Computer Experience (e.g., Word, Excel) or LIMS
Additional Job Standards
  • Experience working multiple projects in various stages at the same time
  • Ability to handle a fast paced environment
  • Organized and detailed communication
  • Able to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing
  • Experience working in a variety of study types, analysis procedures and methodology projects
