Job Title : Data Scientist - Inventory Optimization and Operations Research
Contract : 06+ month contract
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Scientist with a strong background in inventory optimization, operational research, and industrial engineering. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of inventory management principles, supply chain dynamics, and statistical modeling techniques. Knowledge of data structure design, data engineering, natural language processing (NLP), and generative models is a plus.
In this role, you will leverage data-driven approaches to optimize inventory levels, streamline operational processes, and improve decision-making within our organization.
Responsibilities :
- Inventory Optimization : Apply advanced analytical techniques to optimize inventory levels, including demand forecasting, safety stock calculations, reorder point determination, and order quantity optimization. Develop models to identify potential stockouts, excess inventory, and areas for improvement.
- Operational Research : Use operational research methodologies to solve supply chain optimization, production planning, scheduling, and logistics problems. Develop optimization models and algorithms to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Industrial Engineering : Analyze and improve processes, workflows, and systems to boost productivity and reduce waste. Apply industrial engineering concepts to streamline operations and eliminate bottlenecks.
- Statistical Modeling : Utilize statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms to analyze large datasets, forecast demand, identify trends, and support decision-making related to inventory and operations.
- Data Engineering and Database Design : Design and implement data pipelines, structures, and databases to efficiently collect, store, and process data. Maintain data quality and integrity.
- NLP and Generative Models : Use NLP techniques and generative models to analyze unstructured data, extract information, and develop text-based models for inventory and demand forecasting.
- Collaboration and Communication : Work with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, gather data, and deliver insights. Present findings clearly to stakeholders.
- Database Design and Optimization : Develop database schemas and optimize performance through best practices.
- ETL and Data Lake Design : Develop ETL processes and design data lake zones for scalable data storage and processing.
Qualifications :
- Ph.D. in Operations Research, Applied Math, Engineering Optimization, or related field.
- Expertise in inventory optimization, operational research, and industrial engineering.
- Proficiency in statistical modeling, machine learning, and optimization algorithms.
- Experience with SQL, data engineering, and data manipulation.
- Knowledge of Python or R for analysis and modeling.
- Familiarity with NLP, text mining, and generative models.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
