Job description

Operations Project Manager - MEPPOSITION OVERVIEW

CSI Engineering is seeking an experienced Operations Project Manager to support project delivery, client engagement, and business growth across North America.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering, commissioning, construction, EPC/EPCM, MEP services or technical project management, with the ability to work effectively with both clients and internal project teams.

This role combines project delivery leadership, technical operations, client engagement, and business development support. The Operations Project Manager will work closely with company leadership, Business Development, Project Managers, engineering teams, commissioning personnel, and clients to translate project opportunities into well-defined and successfully executed projects.

Key responsibilities include developing project strategies, scopes, schedules, staffing plans, budgets, and implementation plans; supporting technical discussions and client pursuits; and maintaining strong client relationships throughout project delivery.

This is not primarily a site-based Project Manager role. The position will support multiple projects, clients, and business initiatives across North America, with travel to project sites as needed, particularly during project startup and mobilization phases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement project execution plans, including scope, schedule, staffing, budget, resources, milestones, and risk strategy.
  • Oversee multiple projects to ensure successful delivery against client expectations, quality standards, schedules, and financial goals.
  • Monitor project financial performance, forecasting, staffing, resource utilization, delivery risks, and key business opportunities, and provide clear visibility to company leadership.
  • Provide technical and operational guidance to Project Managers, engineers, commissioning teams, and field personnel.
  • Support MEP commissioning, QA/QC, controls/BMS, TAB, functional testing, integrated systems testing, and project turnover activities.
  • Partner with Business Development on client pursuits, proposals, scopes of work, fee development, presentations, and technical sales support.
  • Participate in prospective and existing client meetings to understand client needs, develop solutions, and define project approaches.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and identify opportunities for repeat business and expanded services.
  • Develop and maintain consistent project delivery processes, reporting standards, templates, and best practices.
  • Support resource planning, hiring, mentoring, and development of Project Managers and technical personnel.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related technical field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in engineering, commissioning, construction, EPC/EPCM, technical services, or mission-critical project delivery.
  • Experience developing and executing project plans, budgets, schedules, staffing strategies, and implementation plans.
  • Experience managing multiple projects, clients, teams, and resources.
  • Strong understanding of MEP systems, construction, commissioning, and technical project delivery.
  • Experience with project financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and profitability.
  • Demonstrated client-facing experience with the ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships.
  • Ability to understand client requirements and translate them into practical project strategies and execution plans.
  • Experience developing proposals, estimates, scopes of work, project execution plans, presentations, and staffing strategies during pursuit or pre-project phases.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to travel throughout North America as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with data centers, hyperscale, mission-critical, advanced manufacturing, healthcare, or other complex technical facilities.
  • Experience within an engineering, EPC/EPCM, commissioning, or technical consulting organization.
  • Knowledge of MEP commissioning, QA/QC, electrical infrastructure, HVAC/cooling, controls/BMS, TAB, and integrated systems testing.
  • Familiarity with ASHRAE, NEBB, ACG, and applicable building and MEP codes.
  • PE, PMP, CCM, commissioning certification, or similar professional credential preferred.
