Qualifications

OverviewUnited Way of Greater Atlanta seeks an Operations Project Manager in the Community Engagement Department to strengthen the systems, project management practices, grant operations, and cross-functional coordination needed to advance Child Well-Being goals and, CE 2030 priorities. FY26-27 is a strategic transition period for Community Engagement, with an emphasis on aligning systems, partners, data, and investments around child well-being and pathways to regional economic mobility. The Operations Project Manager contributes to this transition by helping CE organize the work, clarify accountabilities, monitor progress, strengthen decision-making routines, and maintain consistent operational practices across portfolios and initiatives.Position SummaryThe Operations Project Manager works with Vice President, Investments & Operations and the Chief Community Impact Officer to ensure the development CE goals into coordinated implementation plans, dependable grantmaking and reporting practices, and practical tools that support staff readiness, clear accountability for results, partner engagement, and continuous improvement. Approximately 50% of this role encompasses executive administrative responsibilities to support the effective leadership, team management, and partner engagement of the Chief Community Impact Officer.Key ResponsibilitiesProject and Workplan ManagementProvide support for the development and maintenance of comprehensive project plans, timelines, milestones, decision logs, and follow-up routines for CE 2030and other assigned initiatives.Coordinate meetings, agendas, notes, follow-ups, and implementation support so key staff and cross-functional partners remain informed and aligned.Grantmaking Operations and Resource StewardshipSupport monitoring and management of grants and strategic investments, including documentation needed for agreements, reporting, finance processes, contract preparation, monitoring, and payment/check processing.Promote consistent use of the grants management system as the system of record for financial, programmatic, outcomes, and reporting data.Work with the Vice President, Investments & Operations to monitor CE budget performance, support variance discussions, and make operational adjustments based on financial analysis and feedback.Support timely completion of required funder reports and stewardship deliverables.Continuous ImprovementSupport the Vice President, Investments & Operations to identify and implement process improvements that address gaps in current practices, including items connected to departmental risk register monitoring.Support quarterly portfolio plan reviews and updates, including documentation of progress, gaps, learning findings, and improvement opportunities.Partner EngagementSupport development and implementation of clear CE partner engagement standards that define consistent expectations, communication practices, and accountability measures.Coordinate partner feedback and satisfaction survey processes, including planning, deployment support, tracking, synthesis, and follow-up actions.Administrative SupportProvide executive assistant administrative support to the Chief Community Impact Officer and Vice President, Investments & Operations, specifically including managing their calendars, executive communications, meeting prep and follow-up, travel commitments other duties as assigned.Support cross-functional projects with Organizational Development, Marketing, Finance, and other internal partners that advance CE readiness and implementation capacity.Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in human services, community development, social work, business, public administration, nonprofit management, project management, or a related field required; equivalent relevant experience may be considered where appropriate.At least five years of experience with community-based, philanthropic, nonprofit, policy, education, health and human services, economic mobility, or community development organizations.Demonstrated experience managing projects, including establishing timelines, identifying dependencies, conducting follow-ups, documenting decisions, communicating with stakeholders, and meeting deadlines.Core Competencies & ExpectationsStrong project management judgment, including the ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize competing deadlines, problem-solve, and demonstrate appropriate initiative.Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to summarize complex information clearly for internal and external audiences.Ability to organize information, maintain accurate records, track action items, and support disciplined follow-through across teams.Comfort using data, dashboards, spreadsheets, grant management systems, and standard technology tools to monitor progress and inform decisions.Ability to work collaboratively with leadership, staff, volunteers, community partners, funders, and cross-functional teams with varying backgrounds and work styles.Flexibility, maturity, sound judgment, discretion, and a commitment to improving outcomes for children, families, and communities.
