Job summary

United Way of Greater Cincinnati is seeking an Associate, Impact Operations & Grants in Cincinnati to support fundraising and community impact by developing grant proposals, reports, and related written content that communicates the organization's mission and outcomes.

You will coordinate proposal development, research funding opportunities, and manage content libraries while ensuring grant compliance and timely reporting across multiple funders.

Qualifications

  • Two to three years of relevant professional experience.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with demonstrated ability to develop clear, persuasive content.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative information into compelling narratives.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365; familiarity with Asana and Salesforce preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and build strong working relationships.
  • Interest in community impact and nonprofit work.

Responsibilities

  • Develop grant proposals, letters of inquiry, applications, grant reports, and other materials for corporate, foundation, and government funders.
  • Create one-pagers, presentations, briefing documents, funder updates, and other external communications highlighting United Way's programs and outcomes.
  • Coordinate proposal development timelines and gather information from program, finance, evaluation, and leadership staff.
  • Research funding opportunities, community needs, demographic data, and evidence-based practices to strengthen grant proposals and written materials.
  • Maintain and update organizational boilerplate language, program descriptions, organizational statistics, and content libraries.
  • Review, edit, proofread, and format grant applications and other written materials to ensure clarity, consistency, and quality prior to submission.
  • Coordinate grant reporting schedules and ensure reporting deadlines are met.
  • Draft interim and final grant reports for funders.
  • Review programmatic and financial reports submitted by partners for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with funding requirements.
  • Track grant deliverables, milestones, and reporting requirements across multiple funding sources.
  • Support the administration of grantmaking processes from application through grant closeout, including application review, award documentation, and grant file management.
  • Maintain organized grant files, reporting documentation, and grants management systems to support compliance, audit readiness, and organizational recordkeeping.
  • Support continuous improvement of grantmaking and grant management processes through templates, documentation, and workflow enhancements.

The Associate, Impact Operations & Grants supports United Way of Greater Cincinnati's fundraising and community impact efforts by developing high-quality grant proposals, reports, and written content that communicate the organization's mission, programs, and outcomes. The Associate assists with grantmaking and grant management processes, including grant compliance and reporting activities, to help ensure funded programs meet organizational requirements. The Associate also contributes to the organization's knowledge management efforts by maintaining reusable grant content, program information, and organizational data, while supporting continuous improvement of grant development and reporting processes.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Program & Project Management Support
  • Provide contract administration support, including preparing agreements and amendments, coordinating reviews and signatures, maintaining contract records, and tracking key dates and deliverables.
  • Provide program and project coordination and administrative support for Community Impact initiatives, including meeting coordination, project tracking, and documentation.
  • Support additional project management activities and external partner coordination, as needed.
  • Support other Community Impact operations and strategic initiatives as assigned.
JOB RELATIONSHIPS WITH:

Community Impact staff and volunteers; United Way staff; donors; agency partners; community leaders; and other philanthropic and nonprofit partners

WORKING CONDITIONS:
