Job summary

First Book is seeking a Director of Operations to lead the Operations and Member Services functions for the First Book Marketplace, serving 600,000+ educators and program leaders nationwide. You will manage inventory flow across multiple warehouses and partner networks, driving reliable service and scalable processes.

The role requires strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills, plus experience optimizing SOPs, data-driven decision making, and cross-functional collaboration with IT

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• 5+ years in operations, inventory management, or related functions.
• Experience managing internal teams and external partners.
• Strong data-driven decision making.
• Hybrid work environment in DC area (Washington, DC).

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Operations and Member Services teams.
• Oversee warehouse, shipping, freight, and fulfillment partnerships.
• Manage end-to-end operational processes: orders, inventory, shipping, QA.
• Drive continuous improvement for accuracy, efficiency, scalability.
• Partner with IT to enhance systems and reporting.
• Oversee budgeting and cost reporting for warehousing and shipping.
• Hire, onboard, coach, and manage staff performance.
