Job summary

The Honolulu Advertiser is seeking a Maintenance Operations Manager to direct maintenance and engineering activities for plant systems, prioritizing safety, quality, efficiency and cost. You will implement best practices, develop preventive maintenance programs, and establish KPIs to measure performance.

You will lead a diverse maintenance team, coordinate across departments, and ensure ISO standards are followed while maintaining a proactive, cost-aware approach to plant reliability and uptime.

Qualifications

  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering required.
  • 8 years of manufacturing plant experience required, with at least 5 years in a similar role.
  • Experience in People Management, Project Management, and Safety and Environmental Management is required; computer literacy is essential.
  • Ability to develop and implement preventive maintenance programs and KPI-based performance standards.

Job Description The Maintenance Operations Manager is responsible for directing and prioritizing maintenance and engineering activities for plant systems and equipment to obtain optimization in the areas of safety, quality, efficiency and cost.

  • Implements best maintenance practices and processes
  • Develops and maintains preventive maintenance programs
  • Establishes and utilizes KPI’s
  • Maintains ISO Certification, as appropriate
  • Develops effective, realistic plans for Maintenance Department Activities
  • Adjusts plans and activities to meet changing organizational needs. Adapts to change quickly and independently
  • Coordinates and directs maintenance requirements of each department
  • Understands and supports the missions and values of the organization
  • Builds teams with diverse skills and strengths
  • Completes assignments and meets commitments
  • Accepts accountability for own actions
  • Pursues problem solutions with a sense of urgency
  • Maintains clear and consistent performance standards by providing instructive firm guidance
  • Encourages and motivates employees and defines their roles and responsibilities
  • Ensures Request for Expenditures (RF.E.’s) are developed to obtain capital or expense funding approval for equipment, repairs and projects of the plant
  • In accordance with policy, procures parts and materials required to sustain Plant operations and facilitate turnarounds as well as for attention to routine and emergency situations
  • Appraises performance of personnel setting objectives for improvement as necessary
  • Maintains constant communication across plant to minimize disruptions due to maintenance activities and to ensure other departments are receiving the necessary attention to operate efficiently and without interruption
  • Select, train and develop maintenance personnel to provide the highest quality workmanship to the Plant
