CFS in San Antonio, Texas is seeking a Chief Operating Officer to lead operations across asset management, construction, finance, and compliance for thousands of affordable housing units.

Qualifications

• 7 to 10 years of senior leadership experience in real estate, affordable housing, or related sectors.
• Strong financial acumen including budgeting, forecasting, and financial statement interpretation.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, public administration, urban planning, or nonprofit management.

Responsibilities

• Lead operations for asset management, construction, finance, and compliance.
• Oversee financial forecasting and project execution in regulated environments.
• Advise board and founders on growth initiatives and partnerships.
• Mentor staff, plan succession, and improve processes across functions.

Key Responsibilities Of The Chief Operating Officer

• Lead operations for all asset/property management, construction, finance, and compliance, delivering strong outcomes for thousands of affordable housing units and projects
• Oversee and optimize business processes, financial forecasting, and project execution in complex, regulated environments
• Act as a strategic advisor for growth initiatives, board engagement, and community partnerships, ensuring operational sustainability and mission alignment
• Mentor and develop staff, promote succession planning, and drive continuous improvement across all functions
• Direct critical risk management, regulatory compliance, and audit readiness for a portfolio exceeding $100M in assets

Must-Have Skills/Experience (Required)

• 7 to 10 years of senior leadership experience in real estate, affordable housing, or commercial lending/banking
• Strong financial acumen: budgeting, forecasting, project finance, and financial statement interpretation in complex asset environments
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (finance, accounting, public administration, urban planning, nonprofit management)
