Job summary

DEMGY Pacific in Tacoma, WA seeks a Manufacturing Leader to oversee the Machining Division, manage daily operations, and drive productivity while safeguarding quality and safety.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years manufacturing experience, proven leadership and communication skills, ERP/MRP knowledge, and experience training CNC Operators; Lean/5S and Kaizen experience are a plus.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of manufacturing experience required.
  • 3–5 years of proven communication and organizational skills to effectively coordinate, supervise, manage, and or train others in a manufacturing environment.
  • 5+ years of CNC Programmer experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of Machinist experience required.
  • Experience in providing ongoing training, coaching, and mentoring CNC Machine Operators and Machinists.
  • Understanding of ERP systems and inventory control processes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operation of the Machining Division.
  • Troubleshoot department processes to obtain optimal process parameters.
  • Ensure cycle times, yield, part quality, and deliverables meet or exceed company strategies to reduce overall production costs.
  • Oversee department Leads, Operators, and Programmers on all shifts in all departments within the division.
  • Develop team members through training or education to increase skill levels and job knowledge.
  • Collaborate with Scheduling and Customer Service to deliver according to commitment dates.
  • Make recommendations for proper staffing levels to maintain current workload.
  • Create, review, and update work instructions for all areas within the division.
  • Understand and support Department budget objectives in terms of spending and overtime.
  • Perform performance reviews for direct reports according to DEMGY Pacific’s review process.
  • Support production-based KPI measurements.
  • Research and recommend upgrades to workspaces, equipment, technology.
  • Explore opportunities for automation in production environment.
  • Assist leadership in decisions regarding payroll, hiring, termination, and discipline of direct reports.

Job description

This position’s responsibility is to provide technical support to ensure production goals of the organization are met. Provides leadership related to the Machining Division resources (staff and equipment) to sustain daily operations of the Division. May suggest or implement equipment purchases, modifications or calibration changes that could result in improved productivity or reduced costs related to production. Collaborate with Supervisors, Leads, Machinists, Operators, and Shipping.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3-5 years of manufacturing experience required
  • 3-5 years of proven communication and organizational skills to effectively coordinate, supervise, manage, and or train others in a manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years of CNC Programmer experience preferred
  • 5+ years of Machinist experience required
