Qualifications

Operations Manager - Late/Coverage Shift

Skypace is the ocean freight division of Maxton Shipping Inc., a freight forwarder headquartered in California and represented worldwide. Skypace provides the world’s first BCO-facing shipping platform that connects our branches, vendors, and customers in the same tech environment.

The platform enables the full cycle of freight execution from instant quoting and planning to managing shipments with complete process visibility and is directly integrated with top-10 ocean carriers like MSC, Maersk, CMA CGM, COSCO, and Hapag-Lloyd, operating across all major trade lanes.

Today, we support 150+ customers across 18 countries, handling significant freight volumes with speed, transparency, and support.

Now we are seeking an experienced Operations Manager based in Houston to lead and optimize our Ocean Freight operations. This is a late/coverage shift position, with working hours from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, supporting extended operational coverage.

This role oversees the end-to-end execution of international ocean shipments, ensuring operational excellence, process efficiency, and high customer satisfaction through our digital logistics platform integrated with major carriers like MSC, Maersk, CMA CGM, COSCO, and Hapag-Lloyd.

You’ll drive process improvements, and collaborate closely with internal pricing, sales, and technology teams to ensure seamless freight movement and client support across all trade lanes.

What You Will Do:
  • Oversee and manage day-to-day ocean freight operations across multiple trade lanes.
  • Optimize operational workflows through data-driven analysis and automation within the Skypace platform.
  • Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations, carrier requirements, and company standards.
  • Collaborate with pricing and sales teams to align operational capacity with business growth.
  • Resolve escalations and exceptions, maintaining proactive communication with customers and carriers.
  • Monitor KPIs related to service performance, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in ocean freight forwarding, logistics operations, or supply chain management.
  • Prior experience in a leadership or team management role.
  • Strong knowledge of international documentation, Incoterms, and carrier processes.
  • Skilled in problem-solving, communication, and operational optimization.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, tech-driven logistics environment.
  • Familiar with TMS platforms, digital freight systems, and shipment tracking tools.
