What is the opportunity?

As a key member of the Trade Support Team, the Manager oversees a team supporting time-sensitive, complex exception-based, or highly specialized processes. Responsibilities include hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and developing team members, fostering teamwork, and planning for succession. The role also involves supporting escalated customer service issues, process oversight, implementing new initiatives, and maintaining accurate procedures. The Manager must understand regulatory and organizational risks, process workflows, dependencies, and complete work with minimal supervision, addressing escalated questions independently while consulting with the Manager or other resources as needed. The position involves managing increased risk elements through operational reviews, system checks, and adherence to procedures.

What will you do?

Managerial Excellence (50%)

  • Hire, onboard, and train new team members.
  • Supervise and direct complex daily workflows to meet service levels.
  • Provide training, coaching, recognition, and development, fostering teamwork and succession planning.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for supported processes.
  • Coordinate and support customer service inquiries requiring research or problem resolution with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Handle escalated questions independently, consulting with senior management as needed.
  • Ensure team understands RBC's vision and supports targeted behaviors aligned with goals.
  • Set individual goals, manage performance, support career development, and recognize achievements.
  • Promote collaboration across teams and enterprise-wide solutions.
  • Support change management initiatives, helping employees adapt and stay focused on priorities.

Department Oversight Support (30%)

  • Oversee operations on complex exception-based processes, ensuring compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Review processing exceptions for regulatory and policy compliance.
  • Verify and record data accurately in supporting technology systems.
  • Assist with metrics, staffing, financial forecasts, and budgeting.

Process Improvement (10%)

  • Identify and suggest process or system changes to reduce risk, boost efficiency, or improve customer service.
  • Participate in business requirements, testing, training, and implementation of system enhancements.

Training and Documentation (5%)

  • Develop ongoing training materials and support for team members.
  • Maintain and update department procedures and system documentation.

Other (5%)

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • 4-year degree or equivalent plus 5+ years relevant industry experience, or High School diploma plus extensive experience.
  • 3+ years of securities, banking, or related industry experience.
  • Securities license 7 or 99 (or ability to obtain within 120 days).
  • 2+ years of managerial experience leading teams.
  • Effective hiring, training, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to support daily business needs and adapt to rapid change.
  • Advanced customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with brokerage systems and change management.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

Nice-to-have

  • Additional experience in credit operations, project/vendor management, analysis, or risk control.
  • Knowledge of regulatory reporting (TRACE/MSRB) and fixed income markets.
