IEM in Jacksonville, FL, is seeking an Operations Manager for our copper fabrication facility. This role reports to the Director of Operations and is 100% in-office with no remote work.

The Copper Bus Fabrication Operations Manager will drive Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) targets across all shifts, leading supervisors, leads, and fabrication teams. Responsibilities include optimizing throughput, improving equipment effectiveness, reducing scrap, and coordinating with Engineering,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Technology, or related technical field.
  • MBA is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day copper fabrication operations across all shifts to meet Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) targets.
  • Manage Supervisors and Leads, ensuring stable fabrication flow, effective workforce deployment, and proper cross-training.
  • Achieve throughput, utilization (OEE), scrap reduction, and overtime targets while monitoring performance trends.
  • Drive root-cause analysis for quality issues, downtime, and process instability in collaboration with Engineering and Maintenance.
  • Maintain adherence to standardized operating procedures, machine setup standards, and quality requirements.
  • Partner with Fabrication/ Process Engineering on program optimization, fixture standardization, new equipment commissioning, and automation integration.
  • Work with Planning to optimize capacity utilization, schedule attainment, and fabrication prioritization across buildings.
  • Ensure consistent execution of 5S, visual management, daily tier meetings, and problem-solving routines.
  • Support continuous improvement activities that reduce cycle time, improve flow, and increase efficiency.
  • Communicate risks, performance gaps, and improvement opportunities to the Director of Fabrication.

IEM is currently seeking an Operations Manager for our Jacksonville, FL location and will report into the Director of Operations. The Copper Bus Fabrication Operations Manager is responsible for the safety, quality, delivery performance, and cost efficiency of all copper fabrication operations across the assigned facilities. This role manages supervisors, team leads, and fabrication teams, ensures stable process execution, drives efficiency improvements, and partners closely with Engineering, Planning, Quality, and Maintenance to achieve daily and long-term performance targets.

Please note: This position requires 100% in-office presence in our Jacksonville, FL offices and does not offer remote work.

Night shift start time will discussed at time of offer and is flexible between 6pm and 8pm.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead day-to-day copper fabrication operations across all shifts and JAX facilities to achieve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) targets.
  • Manage Supervisors and Leads, ensuring stable fabrication flow, effective workforce deployment, and proper cross-training.
  • Achieve throughput, utilization (OEE), scrap reduction, and overtime targets while monitoring performance trends.
  • Drive root-cause analysis for quality issues, downtime, and process instability in collaboration with Engineering and Maintenance.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Technology, or related technical field.
  • MBA is an asset.
  • 5+ years in metal manufacturing operations
  • Leadership experience managing supervisors and production/ fabrication teams.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC punch, forming, and material flow.
  • Experience with ERP systems (Infor SyteLine preferred).
  • Proficiency with Tableau, Power BI, or similar data analytics tools is an asset.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with OEE and MES systems is an asset.
  • Demonstrated career ambition with a track record of growth and increasing responsibility; highly promotable with the potential to take on broader leadership roles within a fast-paced, high-growth organization.
