Job summary

Genentech, a Roche subsidiary, is seeking an experienced Operations & Governance leader in California to drive IDO governance, standardize processes, and execute strategic initiatives. You will manage governance calendars, risk registers, and cross-functional engagement while supporting onboarding and change management efforts.

The role emphasizes PM/OCM expertise, collaboration with Design, Procurement, Finance, and Communications, and delivering executive narratives.

Qualifications

  • 6–9+ years of experience in business operations, program management, or IDO leadership.
  • Experience in a large-scale enterprise undergoing significant business transformation (construction, engineering, or pharma/biotech) is highly desired.
  • PM and Change Management methodologies (ADKAR, Lean, Agile, PMP) are valued.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the IDO work plan, governance calendar, approval workflows, and action-tracking systems to ensure leadership decisions are properly executed, documented, and escalated.
  • Develop, communicate, and maintain standardized methodologies, tools, templates, and central repositories to establish consistent, audit-ready best practices across project teams.
  • Translate abstract strategies into actionable plans while owning the portfolio risk register to proactively address critical issues requiring executive attention.
  • Build cross-functional engagement plans across Design, Procurement, Finance, Site Services, and Corporate Communications to align decision-making authority and expectations.
  • Organize leadership forums, staff meetings, and quarterly all-hands sessions while drafting high-impact executive narratives and supporting external communication efforts.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for onboarding internal and external team members, establishing training frameworks and a PM Academy to upskill the organization.
  • Serve as an Organizational Change Management (OCM) champion to mitigate change fatigue, encourage seamless adoption of new operating models, and foster department learning.

Who You Are

You are a growth-oriented, pragmatic practitioner with an exceptional ability to drive results. You balance high-level strategic thinking with a willingness to get into the operational weeds.

Experience

6–9+ years of experience in business operations, program management, or IDO leadership. Experience in a large-scale enterprise undergoing significant business transformation (construction, engineering, or pharma/biotech) is highly desired.

Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Organizational Development, Communications, or Engineering.

Execution & Aptitude

You possess a solid toolkit of Project Management (PM) and Change Management methodologies (e.g., ADKAR, Lean, Agile, PMP). You are highly resourceful, self-motivated, and demonstrate strong emotional intelligence.

Stakeholder Management

You excel at navigating complex, ambiguous stakeholder dynamics and building consensus. You have an exceptional ability to proactively extract, distill, and synthesize high-value information from busy Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) with minimal administrative burden.

Communication

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; equally effective at executive storytelling to the C-suite and coordinating deeply technical workstreams.

This position is not eligible for relocation.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $136,100 - $252,700 USD Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
