IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. in Glen Burnie, MD is hiring an Operations Manager to lead a 60+ person veterinary reference lab on the 3rd shift (1:00am–9:30am, Tue–Sat). You will drive staffing, budgeting, and continuous improvement, shaping a culture of collaboration and high performance.

You will oversee day-to-day operations, partner with leadership to achieve revenue and quality goals, and apply Lean principles to improve efficiency and outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience overseeing or managing a large, fast-paced, high-volume work environment.
• Oversee the entire lab during the 3rd Shift hours with direct and indirect reports.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
• Proven track record of managing a large team with focus on performance, empowerment and development.
• LEAN experience preferred and applied to lean manufacturing/implementation.
• Ability to adapt departmental plans to address global operational challenges.
• Strong organizational, prioritization and directing skills.
• Experience in project management and leading change.
• Strong written and verbal communication, presenting to senior management and staff.
• Proficient with Excel, Word and other PC applications with high computer usage.

As the Operations Manager of IDEXX's Glen Burnie, MD veterinary reference lab,you will be overseeing the direct management and day to day operations of a 60+ person veterinary diagnostic reference lab. In this role...

• You will serve as a big-picture people leader with a goal and mission to drive results and help people embrace change.
• You will leverage your leadership abilities to coordinate day to day lab operations, including business planning, people management, and delivering results. You will be joining an innovative and fast-paced work environment with a strong focus on employee culture and development.
• You will manage the overall business goals and results of IDEXX's Dallas, TX reference lab. You will have overall responsibility for achieving revenue and profitability goals.
• You will manage staffing, including a supervisory staff on day and night shifts, assigning work, establishing performance metrics, monitoring activities, and evaluating performance.
• You will lead the development of laboratory budget, policies, and procedures.
• You will develop and implement strategies to increase efficiency, maintain quality and ensure continuous improvement of policies, systems, and procedures.

What do you need to succeed?

• You will have in-depth (5-7+ years) experience overseeing or managing a large, fast-paced, high-volume work environment.
• You will oversee the entire lab during the 3rd Shift hours-3 direct reports and 60 indirect reports
• You have worked in a leadership position during 3rd shift hours
• A bachelor's degree in a related field (business or science) is preferred.
• You have proven successful track record of managing a large team with a focus on employee performance, empowerment, and developmentskills.
• You're an experienced change agent, preferably with LEAN experience, and you have applied this experience in lean manufacturing andimplementation
• You can adapt departmental plans and priorities to address resource and the operational challenges of a global company.
• You excel at organizing, prioritizing and directing work activities.
• You have a track record of successful project management skills and abilities.
• You have strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with an ability to effectively present information to various audiences including seniormanagement and those who report to you.
• You are proficient in the use of Excel, Word and other PC applications and are comfortable with high computer use.

Schedule:

• This is a 3rd Shift, overnight position
• The hours for this position will be 1:00am - 9:30am
• The schedule for this position will be: Tuesday Night - Saturday Night
• You may be expected to alter your schedule in order to attend morning meetings and oversee shift change
