IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. in Greensboro, NC is seeking a Laboratory Operations Supervisor. This full-time role combines people leadership with hands-on laboratory testing, including supervision of technicians and hands-on analysis using automated analyzers and microscopes.

You will organize staff schedules, drive workflow efficiency, and uphold SOPs while mentoring staff to achieve business goals. This position is on-site in Greensboro with health and time-off benefits.

Qualifications

• Supervised 10+ employees in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with clinical laboratory testing or veterinary diagnostics is a plus.
• Strong people leadership and coaching skills.
• Able to work 3rd shift and align schedules to business needs.
• Physical ability to stand/sit for extended periods and lift up to 50 lb.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Laboratory Technicians and other staff across departments.
• Coach and develop employees to reach business goals.
• Organize staff schedules, coordinate workflow, and manage costs/metrics.
• Troubleshoot diagnostic analyzers and workflow challenges daily.
• Lead both as a laboratory supervisor and individual contributor in testing.
• Operate automated analyzers and other lab tools to run analyses.
• Read and release lab results according to SOPs.

In this Role:

• In this role you will serve as both a Laboratory Supervisor (60%) and Individual Contributor (40%).

• As a Lab Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing Laboratory Technicians performing work in a variety of clinical departments.

• You will leverage your passion for coaching and developing employees, and helping them reach business goals and their full potential.

• You will organize staff schedules, coordinate workflow, and oversee costs and metrics.

• You will problem-solve every day, from trouble-shooting diagnostic analyzers to resolving situational workflow and turnaround time challenges.

• As an individual contributor, You will be using automated analyzers, microscopes, and other laboratory diagnostic tools to perform analyses and tests. that diagnose animal illnesses, injuries, and diseases in support of veterinarian animal treatment.

• You will be performing diagnostic tests on blood, urine, fecal, or pet biopsy samples that we receive in our lab by the thousands, every day.

• You will be responsible for setting up and running lab tests and reading and releasing results according to SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).

What You Will Need to Succeed:

• You've directly supervised 10+ employees in a fast-paced and/or high-volume work environment.

• Ideally, you have knowledge of human clinical or veterinary testing and procedures, but operations leadership experience from any industry required.

• You have knowledge of clinical pathology testing areas such as Hematology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Serology, Cytology, etc.

• You have strong people leadership skills

• You have worked in a fast-paced, high-volume environment during the 3rd shift hours

• You are passionate about people leadership.

• You are excited about the opportunity to use your skills and abilities in promoting the health and well-being of animals.

• You can work a full-time schedule that may vary slightly based on business needs.

• You are able to meet the physical requirements that go with working in a lab: standing and sitting for extended periods of time, phone & computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50lb, and specific vision ability - close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

• This is a laboratory, so there is potential exposure to biohazards, agents known to cause zoonotic diseases, and hazardous chemicals.

What You Can Expect From Us:

• Salary targeting $70,000 per year with some flexibility depending on years and depth of experience.

Schedule:

• This is a full time, 40hr per week, 3rd Shift position
• The schedule for this position is: Monday Night - Friday Night
• The hours for this overnight position are: Midnight - 8:30am
• There will be a Saturday rotation each month where you will work your normal hours. If you have a Saturday rotation, you will be off one night during the week.
• The shifts and hours may vary depending on business needs
• Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of the position
• Adherence to attendance-related policies and expectations is critical to this position
