Job summary

HHM Hotels is seeking an Operations Manager to oversee front-of-house operations including breakfast service, banquets, catering, and front desk activities at our Vernon Hills property. You will drive guest satisfaction while upholding HHM core values and sustainability guidelines.

We are looking for a candidate with 1–2 years of hospitality experience, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage labor and food costs within budget.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1–2 years of related experience in hospitality or front-of-house operations.
• Experience in guest service and event coordination is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Train, schedule, coach and support associates to meet HHM standards.
• Maintain quality standards of complimentary food service stations.
• Attend weekly meetings to ensure banquet details match client requests.
• Assist Front Desk Manager in creating Front Office schedules.
• Manage labor and food cost within budgets and forecasts.
• Receive and inspect food orders from third-party caterers.
• Occasionally work shifts crossing Breakfast Attendant to Guest Service Agent.
• Create action plans to address guest service deficiencies.
• Work as Manager on Duty when needed.
• Follow EarthView sustainability guidelines and OSHA safety rules.

Overview

Opportunity: Operations Manager

Manage front of the house operations including but not limited to: complimentary breakfast service, banquets, catering functions, and front office in accordance with established guest service and sustainability standards.

Your Growth Path

Front Desk Supervisor – Front Office Manager – Assistant General Manager

Your Focus

• Train, schedule, coach and support associates, ensuring they perform in accordance with established brand or hotel standards and consistent with HHM core values.
• Ensure quality standards of complimentary food service stations are maintained.
• Attend weekly meetings to ensure banquet event details are carried out consistent with client requests.
• Assist Front Desk Manager & Front Office Supervisor in creating Front Office Schedule.
• Manage labor and food cost expenses to fit within budgets and/or updated forecasts.
• Receive and inspect food orders from third party catering companies.
• Position will work shifts crossing over from Breakfast Attendant to Guest Service Agent.
• Create specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely action plans to remedy guest service deficiencies.
• Work as Manager on Duty, when necessary.
• Follow sustainability guidelines and practices related to HHM’s EarthView program.
• Practice safe work habits, wear protective safety equipment and follow MSDS and OSHA standards.
• Perform other duties as requested by management.

Your Background and Skill

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 to 2 years of related experience.

Work Environment and Context

• Work schedule varies and may include working on holidays and weekends.
• Requires standing for extended periods, walking, pushing, lifting up to 25 pounds, bending and reaching, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
