Role Overview
The Operations Manager is a high-impact leadership role responsible for the end-to-end operational success of our Summerville, SC distribution center. Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will lead the inbound and outbound flows with hands‑on facility management. This role requires a unique blend of high-level strategic thinking (process optimization, data analysis) and ground-level execution (logistics, team leadership). You are responsible for ensuring that systems are synchronized, inventory is accurate, and every order from executed with precision.
Core Responsibilities
Technical Order Flow & Systems Management
- Streamline processes, improve workflows, and implement best practices to enhance productivity.
- Troubleshoot order‑flow bottlenecks to prevent shipping delays.
- Leverage advanced Excel skills to build data models for inventory reconciliation, carrier performance, and labor productivity.
Logistics & Freight Strategy
- Manage all outbound and inbound freight, maintaining deep expertise in LTL and FTL market dynamics and rate structures.
- Direct high‑pressure logistics for trade show booths and sample programs, ensuring zero‑fail delivery timelines.
- Act as the primary point of escalation for carrier relationships, OS&D claims, and complex routing requirements.
Facility & Team Leadership
- Direct all daily warehouse activities including receiving, put‑away, and picking in a high‑density racked environment.
- Hire, train, schedule, coach, and develop a team of warehouse associates and coordinators, fostering a culture of proactive problem‑solving.
- Maintain 99%+ inventory accuracy through a rigorous daily cycle count program and "damage‑prevention" protocols.
- Ensure 100% compliance with OSHA regulations and maintain a "tour‑ready" facility at all times.
Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years of progressive operations management experience, specifically within wholesale distribution or logistics.
- Technical Skills: Power‑user proficiency in ERP/WMS systems (NetSuite preferred). Advanced Excel mastery (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, complex formulas) is required.
- Logistics Expertise: Deep understanding of freight classifications, LTL/FTL routing, and the complexities of oversized goods (furniture experience is a major plus).
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead a diverse team and move the needle from tactical "firefighting" to strategic planning.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to translate complex operational data into clear, actionable insights for executive leadership.
