KidSmart is seeking an Operations Manager who has the confidence, knowledge and creativity to manage the facility and operations of this growing, community-based not-for-profit. The organization is looking for someone who is entrepreneurial-minded and prepared to provide the inspired external and internal leadership required of this role.

THE POSITION

This is a key leadership position that requires an entrepreneurial spirit, strategic thinker, capable manager, and seasoned operations professional. The Operations Manager will oversee, direct, and manage all facilities (including the warehouse, facilities, logistics, the organization’s administrative offices and systems), supervise volunteers, with one direct report: Facilities Supervisor.

The Operations Manager is responsible for the tracking and management of all donated product as well as managing the in-kind budget for maintenance of the new KidSmart facility. This position works directly with the contractors, vendors, and special project staff/volunteers for the new facility and campus.

This role is responsible for leading the annual process improvement plan for key areas of operations to improve organizational effectiveness and efficiencies. This position also develops, leads, and manages meeting the goals and growing capacity of annual strategic partnerships.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Operations Manager directs and manages the overall operations of KidSmart by leading all corporate operations, warehouse, distribution, inventory, supply chain, and logistics. He or she will build on KidSmart’s exceptional record of providing free educational resources to students in need and is a key member of the organization’s growing management team and staff.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  1. Manage facility and campus to ensure brand, image, messaging, safety, ADA, health, and OSHA guidelines are followed/enforced and all up to protocol for all interior and exterior spaces.
  2. Manage operational budget, as assigned, ensuring efficiency within budgetary guidelines.
  3. Manage vehicle and equipment operation, maintenance, cleanliness, and repairs including forklift certification for all KidSmart staff.
  4. Manage all logistics relationships, coordinate the logistics of both inbound and outbound product donations, and serve as the logistical lead for all KidSmart programs and events.
  5. Manage all product and in-kind procurement activities by establishing and leading protocols and processes for inventory intake, control, forecasting, and product/distribution needs through KidSmart’s adopted inventory management system (AppleBase).
  6. Support all operational tracking and reporting for grant deliverables in an accurate and timely manner.
  7. Manage the coordination of product and set up for volunteer groups and assist the operations team to train, direct, assign tasks, and evaluate volunteers working at KidSmart facilities and events.
  8. Support volunteer and events staff to ensure meeting all annual goals for recruitment, retention, recognition, appreciation, and overall volunteer management.
