Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in automotive plastic injection molding.
  • Strong knowledge of injection molding processes, tooling materials, and automation.
  • Experience working with IATF 16949 certified facilities.
  • Proven leadership of high-volume, multi-shift operations.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains manufacturing operations plans including program requirements, labor hours, cycle times, production costs, and output.
  • Leads cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Materials and HR.
  • Establishes production and quality standards, budgets, and cost controls; tracks delivery dates.
  • Drives lean manufacturing, Kaizen, 6S and OEE improvement initiatives.
  • Supports plant objectives and ensures adherence to IATF 16949 and customer requirements.
  • Collaborates on capital planning for tooling, presses, automation, and equipment.

Job description

US Farathane is seeking an experienced Operations Manager who will lead day‑to‑day manufacturing operations in an automotive plastic injection molding facility, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives are met. The role provides strategic and hands‑on leadership across production, maintenance, quality, and materials to support customer requirements and continuous improvement initiatives in compliance with IATF 16949 standards.

US Farathane has been a leading source of plastics manufacturing, supplying the automotive industry for over 40 years. Through highly technical research and development, a diverse management team, and dedicated associates, the company has continued to grow each year, offering a full‑service support range from design concepts to advanced composites and extrusion and compression technologies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develops and maintains manufacturing operations business plans to include all program requirements, labor hours, cycle, production costs, and image.
  • Provides input to the development of product strategy and research and development of new and emerging products.
  • Establishes production and quality control standards, develops budget and cost controls, and obtains data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.
  • Partner with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Materials, and HR to support plant objectives.
  • Provides guidance to the development of a manufacturing process plan, including personnel requirements, material needs, subcontract requirements, facility needs, and tooling and equipment needs.
  • Ensuring all established costs, quality, and delivery commitments are met.
  • Ensure adherence to standardized work, work instructions, and process controls.
  • Coordinates manufacturing activities with all other functions of the organization and suppliers to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
  • Reviews production and operating reports and directs the resolution of operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Perform administrative activities associated with the effective management of shop operations, including compiling, storing, and retrieving production data for reports.
  • Determines responsibilities of assigned organization and staff positions to accomplish business objectives.
  • Trains and ensures all assigned employees are aware of and comply with company, government, and customer policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Ensures compliance with IATF 16949, customer‑specific requirements, and internal quality systems.
  • Support APQP, PPAP, control plans, PFMEA, and layered process audits.
  • Partner with Quality to reduce scrap, rework, and customer complaints.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance to ensure optimal uptime of injection molding machines, robots, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Participate in capital planning for tooling, presses, automation, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 6S, and OEE improvement projects.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in an automotive plastic injection molding environment.
  • Strong knowledge of injection molding processes, tooling materials (resins), and automation.
  • Experience working with IATF 16949 certified facilities.
  • Proven leadership of high‑volume, multi‑shift operations.
Physical Requirements

Working Conditions
  • Work is performed primarily in an automotive plastic injection molding manufacturing environment with regular time spent on the production floor and in quality labs.
  • Exposure with noise, moving machinery, forklifts, temperature variations, plastic resins, and production chemicals typical of injection molding operations.
  • Required to wear appropriate PPE such as safety glasses and reflecting green “quality” vest.
  • May be exposed to odors, dust, and fumes associated with molding processes and materials.
  • Work schedule generally day shift, with off shift, weekend, or extended hours required to support production issues, launches, audits or customer concerns.
  • Position requires frequent interaction with production personnel, engineering, maintenance, and management on the shop floor.
  • Occasional travel to customer or supplier locations may be required for audits, launches, or issue resolution.
  • Fast‑paced environment with time‑sensitive decision making to minimize quality risks and production downtime.
  • Work involves a combination of standing, walking, sitting, and computer‑based tasks.
