Job Summary
As Operations Manager, you will oversee and optimize the end-to-end manufacturing operations for our sites involved in manufacturing products for the emissions market. Your leadership will be pivotal in ensuring our operations meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency while delivering on our customer commitments.
You will lead a talented team, driving operational improvements, fostering a culture of collaboration, and aligning operations with strategic business goals while ensuring your sites meet and exceed customer expectations. You'll be tasked to deliver on internal commitments in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost across manufacturing processes, customer service, and supply chain groups.
This role requires a dynamic leader with a strong track record in manufacturing excellence, continuous improvement, team development, and natural curiosity to engage in the details at your sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement operational strategies to achieve excellence in manufacturing engineered products. Align operational initiatives with organizational goals and customer needs to support the company's growth.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement operational improvements to improve service levels, enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and increase overall productivity. Work with site teams to develop continuous improvement road maps to deliver significant benefits.
- Team Leadership: Provide strong leadership to the operations team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Execute the intellectual capital process of performance management and talent development to create a high-performance organization
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage with the Commercial and Engineering teams to work cross-functionally to improve customer satisfaction. Work closely with other departments such as finance, marketing, and human resources to ensure alignment and synergy across the organization
- Performance Metrics: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Financial Management: Facilitates P&L support by collaborating with direct reports and leadership on budget planning, capital expenditures, cost analysis opportunities, and manufacturing productivity for assigned customer product lines.
- People Development: Ensure the development and progression of teammates within the organization. Provide opportunities for developmental and promotional growth assignments and project activity
- Technology Integration: Evaluate and implement technological solutions to enhance operational efficiency and stay current with industry trends
Education & Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within welding and sheet metal fabrication.
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Engineering or a related discipline required; Master’s degree or MBA preferred, but not mandatory.
- Proven experience leading a large manufacturing site with 100+ employees/associates, with overall responsibility for site operations and performance.
- Proficiency with manufacturing ERP systems; Epicor experience is a strong asset.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to make timely, fact-based business decisions.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated business acumen with a strong understanding of operational performance, growth, and profitability.
- Proven ability to build, develop, and lead high-performing teams and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Hands-on experience implementing Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives, including Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, Kaizen, Kanban, 5S, and other operational workflow optimization methodologies.
