Job summary

EQA Schools is seeking an Operations Manager to work closely with the COO, Director of Operations, and school leaders to ensure that students and staff have the operational resources they need to succeed. This role focuses on maintaining functional facilities, procuring materials, and coordinating contracted services to keep schools running smoothly.

You will oversee school operations, facilities, IT, and data, coordinating vendor services and safety initiatives.

Qualifications

• BA or BS is required.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, relationship building, and management skills are essential.
• Learning mindset and commitment to improving educational opportunities for urban students.
• Experience in a public charter school environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and refine systems and procedures to support daily school operations including food service, custodial, transportation, facility maintenance, procurement, IT/asset tracking, and safety.
• Develop and refine systems to improve the operational health of schools and provide feedback to staff.
• Respond quickly to facility issues and manage vendor services to keep environments suitable for teaching and learning.
• Provide IT support and manage IT assets; track and manage hardware and software.

Operations Manager (Full-Time)

About the Organization

EQA serves students who have dropped out, been expelled from, or have struggled academically or behaviorally in traditional settings and are looking for an accelerated path to graduation. There are three high school campuses, The NET: Central City which opened in 2011, The NET: Gentilly which opened in 2017, and a third high school campus, The NET: East, which opened in 2020 as a merger with ReNEW Accelerated High School. The NET: East is located on a wrap-around center called the New Orleans East Opportunity Center, which also houses the Bridge Middle School and the NEST, a licensed childcare site. Students at the high schools earn a high school diploma and participate in internships, career counseling, and career training in various fields including construction, medical, and digital media. EQA also serves middle school students through The Bridge Middle School, a therapeutic program for 7th and 8th grade struggling students. For all settings, our goal is that our students leave school with the skills, confidence and experience necessary to succeed in the career and education path of their choice.

About the Role

Operations Manager will work closely with the COO, Director of Operations, and School Leaders to ensure that students and staff have the operational resources they need to succeed - including a functional facility, access to the materials needed to complete their jobs, and effective contracted services. School Operations consists of all the “behind the scenes” work - this team keeps the wheels turning so teachers can focus on teaching and school leaders can focus on leading.

Key Responsibilities

School Operations

• Develop, implement, and refine systems and procedures to support execution of all school operations each day, including
  • Food service
  • Custodial
  • Transportation
  • General facility maintenance

• Develop, implement, and refine systems for improving the operational health of schools, in order to provide feedback and identify areas of support needed for staff

Facilities

• Respond quickly and appropriately to all facility issues raised by staff
• Complete basic facility maintenance and repairs to resolve low-level issues
• Coordinate and manage all facilities service vendors to ensure that schools are always suitable environments for teaching and learning
• Coordinate use of facilities for special events

IT & Data

• Respond quickly and appropriately to all IT issues raised by staff
• Complete basic IT maintenance and repairs to resolve low-level issues
• Support staff and students in learning and using hardware and software
• Track and manage all IT assets

Qualifications

• Required
  • BA or BS
  • Ability to complete facilities maintenance work
  • Ability to complete basic IT support and troubleshooting

Hiring Logistics
