This role is pivotal in ensuring efficiency, driving measurable results (revenue generation, profitability, customer experience, etc.), and fostering a culture of adaptability and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have a hands‑on leadership style, bringing strategic vision and practical insights to day‑to‑day operations.

Recommerce is transforming how products are consumed, making goods more accessible, sustainable, and environmentally friendly by extending their lifecycles. Our team is at the forefront of this movement, reducing waste and meeting the growing demand for sustainable alternatives. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a meaningful mission while directly influencing our operations and growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage revenue per square foot and throughput to ensure operational efficiency and profitability.
  • Implement processes to drive sales performance and maintain alignment with business targets.
  • Analyze and optimize conversion rates through continuous improvement initiatives and strategic adjustments.
  • Work closely with the store manager and associates to get more customers into the store, spending the majority of working hours at the store location helping the team execute.
  • Customer Experience: Ensuring an ideal environment for customers in the store and online: optimizing advertising, tracking customer info and engagement, adjusting the store layout as needed.
  • Logistics Strategy & Execution: Collaborate with the Head of Operations to develop and implement logistics strategies to ensure timely, cost‑effective delivery and scalable operations.
  • Supply Chain Process Design: Create and optimize supply chain processes that balance efficiency and sustainability.
  • Resource Forecasting & Allocation: Anticipate future operational needs, ensuring effective allocation of staff, materials, and tools to maximize productivity and minimize waste.
  • Adaptability & Problem‑Solving: Respond proactively to market changes, addressing operational challenges and seizing new opportunities.
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of creativity and continuous improvement, deploying innovative solutions to enhance operations and customer experience.
  • Customer‑Centric Focus: Start with the customer’s needs and work backward to deliver effective solutions and exceptional experiences.
  • Strategic Leadership & Collaboration: Partner with senior leadership to align operations with company goals and drive growth and scalability.
  • Technology & Development Oversight: Manage tools and oversee the tech review and development processes, ensuring seamless implementation.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Lead cross‑functional initiatives, improving communication and collaboration between teams to achieve business objectives.
  • Scalable Processes: Developing systems and processes that are able to scale as we grow the business, the goal will be to expand locally and then nationally.
Qualifications
  • Experience: 5- 8 years of experience in operations management, ideally within the recommerce industry or a closely related field. Retail experience is required, as well as a proven track record of managing store operations and logistics.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to manage complex, multi‑channel operations.
  • Mindset:
    • A "startup" mentality with comfort in ambiguity, self‑direction, and the ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
    • Demonstrated ability to thrive in smaller, fast‑paced environments, having worked across multiple companies or industries.
    • A willingness to wear multiple hats and adjust to evolving priorities as the business grows.
Preferred Experience
  • Managing operations in a hybrid online and retail environment.
  • Leading teams through significant growth or organizational change.
  • Experience in retail and logistics/fulfillment operations, with a strong emphasis on practical, ready‑to‑use expertise that can be immediately applied in an early‑stage environment.
  • While understanding complex operational management (e.g., processes applicable to building rockets) is valuable, candidates with hands‑on experience in retail and logistics are prioritized.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complexity and test solutions in real‑world scenarios.
  • Experience with Shopify and Hubspot

If you’re a strategic thinker passionate about sustainability, retail, and operational excellence, we invite you to apply, and help us revolutionize the recommerce industry!

About Us

At Gone, we believe in unlocking hidden value in the everyday items we no longer use. In American homes alone, there’s over half a trillion dollars worth of unused goods gathering dust, and it’s time we changed that. With over $590 billion in unused goods—$4,500 worth per household across 131 million households—we aim to make extracting value easier and faster for you.

The overall recommerce market is growing more than four times faster than the traditional retail industry, highlighting the growing demand for sustainable, circular solutions. Yet, decluttering and redistributing unused items remains time‑consuming and inefficient, especially when you have a lot to clear out quickly. That’s where we come in. Gone reimagines the process, helping people quickly, efficiently, and profitably rid their homes of excess goods.

Our Vision
Gone.com, the recommerce hub of the world.

The global shift towards recommerce, where repurposing becomes the industry standard, is driving us forward. We’re fostering a circular economy by offering convenient, customer‑focused, and elevated services that make it easier than ever to give new life to gently used items.

Our Mission
Building the largest local recommerce supply chain

Our technology reimagines the entire landscape of consumer goods by providing a turnkey system to manage the removal and redistribution operations of stagnant, gently used items. Together with our partners, we are solving the need to drive preference for recommerce and reduce waste in our local neighborhoods.

  • 25% of U.S. households with a 2‑car garage can’t park their cars inside due to clutter.
  • 10% of the U.S. population rents storage units.
  • Despite our homes being 30% larger than in the 1950s, family sizes are shrinking.
  • The average American now moves 7 times in their lifetime, often accumulating more things along the way.
  • Baby boomers, totaling 72 million people, are downsizing and faced with managing large collections of possessions.

Gone is driven to solve these challenges by creating a seamless system that allows you to reclaim the value in your items while minimizing waste. Together with our partners, we are reshaping the landscape of consumer goods and supporting a more sustainable, re‑commerce‑driven future.
