Job description

Company Description

STAND is an in-person entrepreneurship program for kids ages 8 to 13, opening its first location in Los Angeles. We think of it as the modern-day lemonade stand: a place where kids build something of their own while developing confidence, creativity, communication, resilience, and the ability to figure things out.

Our first cohorts launch later this year in West Los Angeles, and we're looking for an exceptional Operations Manager to help bring STAND to life. This is a hands-on, right-hand role working directly with the founder across day-to-day operations and everything it takes to open our first space, run it really well, and build the systems that will allow us to grow.

Role Description

You'll be the founder's right hand and help keep the business organized and moving forward. On any given day, that could mean getting the space ready to open, following up on a vendor, fixing a scheduling issue, preparing for a meeting, sitting in on a marketing conversation, figuring out a better system, or jumping in wherever something needs to get done.

Especially in the beginning, this role will be heavily focused on operations, coordination, and logistics. As STAND grows, the role can grow with it based on what you prove you can own.

This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career who is incredibly organized, proactive, wants to learn alongside a founder, and is excited by the idea of helping build something from the ground up. There won't always be a playbook. Part of the job is helping us create one.

What's you'll do
  • Help turn the founder's priorities into clear next steps, track follow-ups, and make sure important projects keep moving.
  • Support day-to-day coordination, including scheduling, meeting preparation, follow-ups, documents, and general organization.
  • Prepare for meetings, capture decisions and action items, and make sure the right people follow through on what they own.
  • Research options, gather information, and help make thoughtful recommendations around vendors, systems, tools, and operational decisions.
  • Help get our first location open, from vendors and deliveries to buildout coordination, supplies, installations, landlord needs, and all the details that come with opening the doors.
  • Own day-to-day operations once we're up and running, including the space, scheduling, supplies, vendors, and all the little things that keep everything moving.
  • Keep us organized around waivers, releases, insurance, permits, background checks, and other operational requirements.
  • Manage enrollment and program logistics and help make sure families have a smooth experience before and during each cohort.
  • Handle program administration, billing, payments, and record-keeping, and make sure information stays organized and accurate.
  • Build the checklists, calendars, systems, and routines that will help us add programs and cohorts without adding chaos.
  • Spot problems early, solve what you can, and know when to pull someone else in.
  • Jump into marketing, events, partnerships, hiring, special projects, and whatever else needs a capable set of hands.
Who you are
  • You want to work closely with a founder and see firsthand how a business gets built.
  • You are exceptionally organized and naturally keep track of the details.
  • You follow through and don't need someone constantly reminding you what comes next.
  • You're proactive. If something looks off, you ask about it, fix it, or figure out who can.
  • You can keep track of a lot of moving pieces and shift between them throughout the day without losing the thread.
  • You take pride in getting the details right, including the unglamorous ones.
  • You're comfortable learning and using the tools that run a small business, including spreadsheets, scheduling tools, payment systems, email platforms, and whatever else we need.
  • You communicate clearly, warmly, and professionally.
  • You're comfortable working in a kid-focused environment and interacting with parents and families.
  • You have 2+ years of experience in operations, project coordination, administration, events or another fast-moving, detail-oriented environment.
Logistics
  • Part-time to start, approximately 20 hours per week, with the opportunity to grow into a larger role as STAND grows.
  • Afternoon and some evening availability will be required when programs are running.
