Job summary

STAND is launching its first in-person location in Los Angeles and seeks a Lead Instructor to guide the classroom experience for kids aged 8 to 13. You will deliver the project-based curriculum, create an energetic and inclusive learning space, and work closely with the founder and guest entrepreneurs to bring real-world perspective into the program.

Company Description

STAND is an in-person entrepreneurship program for kids ages 8 to 13, opening its first location in Los Angeles. We think of it as the modern-day lemonade stand: a place where kids build something of their own while developing confidence, creativity, communication, resilience, and the ability to figure things out. Our first cohorts launch this fall in Los Angeles, and we’re looking for an exceptional Lead Instructor to help bring STAND to life.

Role Description

The Lead Instructor will own the classroom experience: guiding kids through the STAND curriculum, creating a space where everyone feels confident participating, and helping each kid turn an idea into something real.

You’ll work closely with STAND’s founder and collaborate with guest entrepreneurs, operators, and creatives who bring real-world expertise into the program. You’ll also help us learn from each cohort and continuously improve.

This role is ideal for an experienced educator who loves working with kids, brings an entrepreneurial mindset, and is energized by building something new. You believe kids are capable of meaningful work—and that some of the most important learning happens when they are challenged to make decisions, work through uncertainty, and figure things out for themselves.

What you do

• Lead up to three weekly cohorts of kids ages 8 to 13, including two weekday afternoons and Saturdays.
• Bring STAND’s project-based curriculum to life in a way that is clear, engaging, and actionable.
• Create a high-energy, well-structured environment where kids feel safe sharing ideas, experimenting, making mistakes, and trying again.
• Guide kids with warmth and clear expectations, adapting your approach while helping them work through challenges independently.
• Help improve lessons and routines, prepare and reset materials

Who you are

• You have at least three years of experience teaching, coaching, mentoring, or leading programs for elementary- or middle-school-aged kids.
• You have the presence to hold a room of 8- to 13-year-olds and make it feel organized, engaging, and fun.
• You’re interested in entrepreneurship
• You have experience with project-based learning, enrichment programs, camps, makerspaces, or after-school programming.
• You balance warmth and encouragement with high expectations and strong group management, knowing when a kid needs support, redirection, more structure, or more independence.
• You’re energized by building new programs, giving honest feedback, and improving things as you go.

Logistics

• Part-time, approximately 12–15 hours per week, including instruction, preparation, development, and debriefs.
• Must be available two weekday afternoons and some Saturdays in person in West Los Angeles.
