Job summary

PTC is seeking an Operations Manager for its Fairbury, IL plant. You will oversee production and maintenance, drive improvements in quality and efficiency, and ensure safe, cost-effective operations within budget.

The role requires strong leadership of multiple departments and a focus on continuous improvement across the line. The ideal candidate has extensive metals experience, manages 5–80 direct reports, and can coordinate capital expenditures with the Plant Manager.

Qualifications

• Minimum of seven years in metals-related management at a level of department supervisor/manager (steel work experience required).
• Must have multi-departmental management responsibilities.

Also maintains a safe work environment and good industrial and human relations within the plant.**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:** * Delegated for providing and managing the necessary production and supervisory personnel within the plant for the varying production loads.* Has working supervision of Supervisors.* Assists in development of new quality and production methods and assists in producing requests for capital expenditures.* Coordinate the implementation of new and improved methods, designs, and procedures to improve quality, production and costs in all production and maintenance departments.* Primary responsibility for maintaining production machinery and associated equipment in functional repair and/or program its replacement.* Primary responsibility for preparing operating budgets for the production & maintenance departments under his control for submission to the Plant Manager for approval. Also responsible for operating within the approved budgetary limits.* Communicate Company Policy and ensure compliance, including Plant Rules.* Develops and carries out necessary training for all employees under his supervision.* Communicate the safety program to promote safe working habits.* Furnish the Plant Manager information on all pertinent developments and assignments.* General responsibility for maintaining harmonious relations and effective communications among the production and maintenance, supervisory and office personnel supervised; and, between all administrative and staff units.* Promotes positive customer and supplier relationships through meetings or other communications as required; solves related problems and assures satisfaction.* Performs additional duties as assigned.The incumbent is expected to understand that all employees have a shared responsibility for the quality of products and related services provided to our customers.
