Operations Manager

Lead, Transform, and Build the Future of a Houston Chemical Operation

Houston, Texas | $130,000–$150,000 + 12% Annual Bonus + Relocation Assistance

Are you a hands‑on operations leader with a background in chemical manufacturing who wants more than just another plant management position?

Our client is seeking an Operations Manager to take a highly visible leadership role within its Houston operation. This is an opportunity to lead daily plant operations while working closely with the Plant Manager to transform the facility, strengthen Operational Discipline, elevate safety and productivity, and help prepare the site for an exciting new product line.

Even more compelling, this new product line represents the company’s most profitable product line, giving the successful candidate the opportunity to play a meaningful role in a major growth initiative.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proven chemical manufacturing leader who enjoys being on the plant floor, developing people, solving problems, and driving measurable improvement.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

Be a Key Leader in Transforming the Operation

The Operations Manager will not simply be responsible for maintaining the status quo. This individual will work closely with the Plant Manager and leadership team to help transform the operation.

You will have the opportunity to make a direct impact on:

  • Plant safety and Operational Discipline
  • Production performance and schedule attainment
  • Quality and customer satisfaction
  • Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • Labor utilization and cost control
  • 5S+1 and housekeeping standards
  • KPI performance and problem-solving
  • Employee development and leadership capability
  • Production flow and overall operational efficiency

This role is ideal for someone who sees opportunities for improvement and has the leadership ability to turn those opportunities into sustainable results.

Help Bring the Company’s Most Profitable Product Line to the Site

One of the most exciting aspects of this position is the opportunity to assist the Plant Manager and broader leadership team with bringing a new product line into the operation.

This is not just any new product. It is the company’s most profitable product line.

The Operations Manager will have the opportunity to help prepare the organization for this important initiative by strengthening processes, developing the team, improving operational readiness, and helping build the foundation for successful implementation.

For a leader who wants to add significant transformation and product-launch experience to their career, this is a rare opportunity to make a lasting impact.

The Leadership Role

This position requires a hands‑on Operations Manager who is comfortable being actively involved in the day‑to‑day operation.

You will lead plant operations with responsibility for ensuring that safety, production volume, quality, costs, customer satisfaction, and delivery performance meet or exceed expectations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading daily plant operations across a multi‑shift manufacturing environment
  • Driving a zero‑defect culture in EHS, quality, and productivity
  • Championing Operational Discipline and a strong safety culture
  • Coaching shift managers and production personnel to improve performance
  • Applying Lean principles and visual management tools to improve safety, quality, and productivity
  • Improving production flow, labor utilization, and overall operational efficiency
  • Supporting staffing decisions and production planning
  • Partnering with Supply Chain to achieve SIFOT and customer service goals
  • Participating in Tier 3 meetings and developing solutions for underperforming KPIs
  • Managing departmental spending and supporting budget performance
  • Leading continuous improvement in 5S+1 and housekeeping standards
  • Supporting EHS requirements and ensuring health and safety responsibilities are met
  • Serving as backup to the Plant Manager when needed
What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a proven manufacturing leader with the ability to lead people, improve processes, and operate effectively in a demanding chemical production environment.

The strongest candidates will bring
  • At least five years of leadership experience in chemical production or chemical manufacturing
  • Experience managing operations in a multi‑shift manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of chemical plant operations and industry regulations
  • Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM)
  • A demonstrated track record of driving Continuous Improvement and Lean initiatives
  • Experience using KPIs, cost analysis, and data to improve operational performance
  • Strong leadership and team development capabilities
  • Experience with quality systems, including ISO 9001 or a comparable quality management system
  • Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Office
  • Project management experience
  • The ability to balance strategic improvement initiatives with the demands of daily operations
  • A degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related field is preferred.
Compensation Package

The company is prepared to offer a competitive compensation package that includes:

  • Base Salary: $130,000–$150,000
  • Annual Bonus: 12%
  • Relocation Assistance: Available for the right candidate
Why Houston and the 77011 Area?

The facility is located in the 77011 area of Houston, in the historic East End. The location provides convenient access to Houston’s urban core while remaining close to the industrial and manufacturing activity that makes the region one of the country’s premier markets for chemical and process manufacturing professionals.

The East End offers a culturally rich and evolving environment, with access to public transportation, trails, local restaurants, entertainment, and Downtown Houston. The broader area continues to see significant redevelopment and investment, including new mixed‑use projects in the East End.

For someone relocating to Houston, the area offers convenient access to Downtown, EaDo, major transportation routes, and many of the city’s sports, dining, entertainment, and cultural attractions. The East End’s METRORail and multimodal transportation options also provide additional connectivity throughout the city.

The Bottom Line

This is an opportunity for an experienced chemical manufacturing operations leader to step into a high‑impact role and help shape the future of a facility.

You will have the opportunity to:

Lead. Improve. Transform. Build.

You’ll manage the daily operation, develop the team, strengthen safety and Operational Discipline, drive Lean and Continuous Improvement, and work alongside the Plant Manager to help bring the company’s most profitable product line into the facility.

If you are a hands‑on chemical manufacturing leader with at least five years of production leadership experience, strong PSM knowledge, and a passion for Continuous Improvement, this is an opportunity to take on a meaningful leadership role with real visibility and long‑term impact.
