Job description

Summary Blueprint Financial Advisors is seeking an Operations Manager to join our growing Charlotte team. The Operations Manager will work closely with the Director of Operations to support the day-to-day operations of Blueprint's wealth management businesses.

This role will serve as a key operational resource for advisors and internal team members, with responsibilities spanning operational systems, compensation, reporting, process improvement, technology, advisor onboarding, and day-to-day problem solving.

The ideal candidate has several years of financial-services experience, preferably within an RIA or wealth management environment, and is comfortable working across systems, data, people, and processes. This person should be able to investigate issues independently, take ownership through resolution, and identify opportunities to make processes more efficient and scalable. The role is designed for an operations professional who can take increasing ownership of key functions and grow into a broad operational leadership role as the organization continues to scale.

This position is based in Blueprint's Charlotte office and will work closely with the Director of Operations and other members of the leadership and operations teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Own and support day-to-day operational processes across Blueprint Financial Advisors.
  • Serve as a first-line operational resource for advisors and internal team members, researching questions and resolving issues before escalating when appropriate.
  • Manage and support advisor compensation and commission processes, including data collection, reconciliation, reporting, issue resolution, and coordination with internal teams and outside providers.
  • Support advisory billing and other recurring financial and operational processes.
  • Produce and maintain recurring operational reports and perform ad hoc analysis as needed.
  • Review and reconcile data across systems to identify discrepancies and ensure accurate operational records.
  • Coordinate with custodians, technology providers, product sponsors, and other outside vendors to resolve operational issues.
  • Become a knowledgeable internal resource for the firm's technology platforms and assist with system administration, troubleshooting, data maintenance, and vendor coordination.
  • Document procedures and maintain repeatable workflows for key Wealth operations.
  • Identify inefficient or manual processes and work with the Director of Operations and other team members to develop more scalable solutions.
  • Support the implementation of new technology, integrations, and operational processes.
  • Assist with technology, cybersecurity, business continuity, and other operational initiatives in coordinating with Compliance and other responsible personnel, as applicable.
  • Crosstrain on key processes to provide additional coverage across the organization.
  • Manage operational projects and workstreams from planning through completion.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Must-Have Core Values

  • Take ownership: You’re a self-starter, but also a finisher. You work well independently, and you proactively address problems before they arise.
  • A “win together” mindset: You’re great at what you do, but you’re humble about your victories because the team’s success is more important to you than individual scores. You’re collaborative, grateful, and you give your teammates the benefit of the doubt.
  • Think systematically: Your past and current teammates would describe you as consistent and reliable. You’re process-oriented, thorough, and pay attention to detail. Data drives your decision-making more than “gut feelings.”
  • Adaptable: You understand that fire drills will arise, and priorities will change. When this happens, you shift gears quickly without losing your smile. You’re persistent and constantly seeking to improve the quality of your work, the processes you rely on to get your job done, and your skills.
  • Champion transparency: You’re a genuine, authentic person. Your teammates know you’ll be honest with them – whether it’s good news or bad. You’re self-aware, understanding your strengths and weaknesses.

Must-Have Experience and Abilities:

  • 3+ years of relevant financial-services experience, preferably within an RIA or wealth management environment.
  • Strong understanding of financial-services operations and the ability to learn new workflows quickly.
  • High degree of comfort with Excel, spreadsheets, and financial and operational data.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to investigate an issue independently and drive it through resolution.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-changing environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with advisors, internal team members, leadership, and outside vendors.
  • Strong technology aptitude and willingness to learn new platforms and systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to document and improve processes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively while taking individual ownership of responsibilities.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience working for a registered investment adviser (RIA), broker-dealer, custodian, TAMP, asset manager, or other financial-services organization.
  • Experience with Orion Advisor Technology or similar wealth-management platforms.
  • Experience with advisor compensation, commissions, billing, or related operational processes.
  • Experience coordinating projects or system implementations.
