JOB SUMMARY
This job is being posted across two skill levels "Senior" and "Lead". Applicants will be considered based on the higher of the two levels they qualify for.
Responsible for the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the Power Generation facility, including equipment such as pumps, fans, compressors, filters, water treatment systems, combustion turbines, and generators.
LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY
Responsibilities are varied and complex. Often works outside the area of assigned duties. Applies advanced skills in multiple areas. Resolves complex issues impacting business operations both inside and outside own department. Makes unreviewed decisions related to responsibilities. Opinions carry significant weight in policy and strategy decisions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides expert feedback and actively participates in the RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance) process.
- Evaluates project progress and manpower performance (internal and external) and reports to supervisor and/or project manager.
- Identifies abnormal equipment operations.
- Monitors, operates, and checks equipment.
- Acts as subject matter expert, coaching and mentoring less experienced team members.
- Acts as a lead and fills in upper management as needed.
- Provides technical management for plant projects.
- Directs activities of contractors and vendors, as needed.
- Acts as Operating Authority.
- Primary duty to operate the plant from the Control Room and Auxiliaries, performing all facets of plant maintenance both electrical and mechanical, without supervision.
- Provides direction and oversight to automation contractors as needed.
- Provides technical management for PLC/DCS projects.
- Makes technical decisions concerning critical instrument electrical systems such as DCS, PLC, field devices, motors, cables, SWGR, and MCCs.
- Develops testing procedures for process instruments and safety systems for PM and compliance.
- Seeks process improvements to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
- Reads and interprets drawings and prints.
- Evaluates project progress and manpower performance.
- Provides technical management for I&C projects.
- Follows all safety and environmental rules and regulations.
- Creates templates and executes clearance procedures.
- Performs general craft tasks, operates industrial equipment, and uses power tools.
- Repairs, inspects, and maintains plant auxiliaries, turbine/generator auxiliaries, fuel supply equipment, and auxiliaries including the CEMS system.
- Monitors, analyzes, and performs water chemistry tests.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Initiates corrective actions and requests for equipment repair.
- Utilizes SAP/PM system for equipment history and work verification.
- Maintains logs and records plant conditions.
- Maintains various databases and uses standard software packages.
- Assists in spare parts inventory management.
- Reads and interprets all plant drawings for daily operations and maintenance.
- Troubleshoots and maintains AC/DC control circuits and components.
- Provides technical management of new and existing assets.
- Serves as a technical resource to operations and lower technician positions.
- Participates in budget preparation.
- Designs and installs new equipment and modifications.
REQUIREMENTS
SENIOR:
- Associate's Degree in a mechanical or technical discipline, and 5 years experience, or
- High School Diploma/GED and 7 years experience, or
- Military experience with at least one enlistment and 6 years experience, or
- High School Diploma/GED and 2 direct plant experience with successful Board Review.
Additional experience and certifications may be considered equivalent.
LEAD:
- Associate's Degree + 7 years experience, or
- High School Diploma/GED + 9 years experience, or
- Military experience with at least one enlistment and 8 years experience, or
- High School Diploma/GED + 3 plant years (including 1 control room experience) with management approval.
Experience in power plants or process-controlled environments is required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- May require training completion.
- Potential exposure to extreme weather and hazardous conditions.
- May need to lift 50 lbs or more, work at heights, in confined spaces, and on non-standard schedules.
- Travel may be required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Occasional sitting, kneeling, crouching, crawling, grasping, coordination, and repetitive motions.
- Frequent walking, pushing, pulling, climbing, stooping, reaching.
- Constant standing.
- Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.

- Must follow safety protocols when handling equipment, hazardous materials, or working in critical infrastructure.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAS)
- Mechanical aptitude, proficiency in reading drawings, use of hand tools, and understanding of control systems.
- Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and team skills.
HEALTH AND SAFETY (MEDICAL/DOT REQUIREMENTS)
- Pre-employment drug screening, physical, audiogram, and position-specific exams.

SALARY RANGE
Senior: $73,944 - $92,352
Lead: $80,829 - $101,088
