Job summary

The UCLA Agile Visual Analytics Lab (AVAL) seeks an experienced Operations Manager to lead administrative, financial, personnel, and event functions in support of its mission to empower stakeholders with data-driven insights.

You will partner with department leadership to ensure efficient operations across contracts, grants, and services, while coordinating with multiple university offices and external vendors.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform under fluctuating workload and work independently in a multidisciplinary university setting.
• Knowledge of financial, procurement, reimbursements, and personnel systems within a university context.
• Experience with grants, contracts, and sales or service award processes at a university.
• Ability to interpret policies and provide thoughtful recommendations to leadership.

Responsibilities

• Oversee financial processes for a portfolio of over $20 million in funding, including contracts, grants, and sales/service.
• Coordinate procurement, reimbursements, travel, vendor management, and consultant payments.
• Support payroll and personnel processes for research faculty and staff.
• Liaise with university offices during award processes and ensure compliance with policies.
• Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment with sensitive information.
