ISO New England is the independent system operator responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable flow of electricity in our region and planning for the future of the electric grid. We are at the forefront of New England’s ongoing transition to clean energy.
The Operations Forecast Analyst is responsible for supporting the production load forecast models used by on-watch Forecasters to produce the New England load forecast for all time horizons up to 21 days from the current day. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of these forecasts by regularly evaluating model performance, troubleshooting issues, retraining models as needed, and making recommendations for fundamental changes to ISO New England load modelers and external vendors. In addition to maintaining existing forecasting tools, the analyst leads initiatives to modernize and enhance the operations forecasting process to meet the growing needs associated with the increasing integration of variable energy resources such as wind and solar. This includes collaborating with project teams to improve forecasting software and associated processes. The role also involves the design, development, implementation, and testing of new tools and forecasting methods, as well as delivering end-user training. Success in this position requires a blend of technical expertise, project management capabilities, and strong interpersonal skills to guide projects from initial concept through to operational deployment.
