Job summary

The NSM Career Center at the University of Houston is seeking an organized, decisive, and action‑oriented Operations & Event Logistics Program Manager I to lead daily department operations, manage event execution, and direct student personnel.

Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's in business/operations/event disciplines, experience with Symplicity CSM, and proficiency in Qualtrics and Power BI for operational reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Event Planning, Communications, or a related field.
  • Experience with Symplicity CSM for career services.
  • Experience using Qualtrics and Power BI to build operational reports.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with experience managing partner relationships and event promotions.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and develops procedures for administering a small/medium department or program.
  • Oversees program expenditures and ensures adherence to budget.
  • Provides guidance to subordinate staff and evaluates performance.
  • Prepares abstracts, research reports, funding proposals, manuals, and other written material.
  • Reviews reports of budgets and activities.
  • Prepares ad hoc reports as needed.
  • May administer grants and related communications, scholarships and operations.
  • Develops, implements and maintains policies and procedures.
  • May serve as property custodian for the department.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

  • 1. Plans and develops procedures for administering a small ormedium-sized department or program.

  • 4. May prepare or participate in the creation of abstracts,research reports, funding proposals, operations and proceduremanuals, and other written material and documentation.

  • 7. May administer grants and grant-related related communications,scholarships and other operations.
  • 8. Develops, implements and maintains appropriate policies andprocedures.
  • 9. May serve as property custodian for the department.

  • Platform Mastery: Administrative experience with Symplicity CSM orsimilar higher-education career service platforms.
  • Data & Analytics: Experience using survey engines (Qualtrics)and data visualization platforms (Power BI) to build operationalreports.
  • Communication & Marketing: Strong written and verbalcommunication skills with experience managing partner relationshipsand collaborating on event promotions

MQ: Education: Requires a thorough understanding of boththeoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical orprofessional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than oneprofessional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normallyobtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree froma college or university or an equivalent in-depth specializedtraining program that is directly related to the type of work beingperformed. Experience: No experience required.
