Job summary

Amazon Web Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced AWS Support Engineer to join a team that assists enterprise customers running mission-critical applications on AWS.

You will troubleshoot complex issues, collaborate with service teams across AWS regions, and own critical infrastructure incidents while delivering world-class customer service from Seattle. Relevant Linux/Windows admin and scripting skills are valued.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of technical support, or 3+ years of customer service experience.
• Experience in System Administration and troubleshooting with Linux and/or Windows Server.
• Experience with networking fundamentals or Internet protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S).
• Experience with AWS services or other cloud offerings is a plus.

This role requires somebody that is passionate about solving customers’ problems and a technically strong operations engineer who can lead and guide a team in tackling the hardest technical challenges. This role requires someone who excels at working in an agile environment and collaborating with some of the smartest people in the industry. Ideal candidate will have experience as a Systems Administrator working with Linux, Unix or Windows

Key job responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and solve challenging operational issues in a complex enterprise environment.
• Supporting fleets of server instances interacting with multiple services across several AWS regions.
• Work directly with technical teams from AWS enterprise, customers and partners to provide unique solutions to our customers' individual needs for their application deployment.
• Build and maintain CloudFormation templates and scripts to automate and deploy AWS resources and configuration changes.
• Collaborate and help build utilities and tools for internal use that enable you and AWS Engineers to operate safely at high speed and wide scale.
• Leverage experiences to provide the voice of the customer to internal AWS teams.
• Drive customer communication during critical events.
• Create tutorials, how-to videos, and other technical articles for the AWS customer community.
• Work on critical, highly complex customer incidents that span multiple AWS services.

Basic Qualifications

• 2+ years of technical support, or 3+ years of customer service experience
• Experience in System Administration and troubleshooting with Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS, RedHat) and/or Microsoft Windows Server and associated technologies (Active Directory)
• Experience working with networking fundamentals or Internet protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, SSL, DNS, HTTP/S, or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or related fields
• 1+ years of professional work experience, or experience with AWS services or other cloud offerings
• Experience working with customers who are deploying cloud solutions
• Experience with automation and any version control tools, or experience deploying, managing, and optimizing Microsoft Windows Server and experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems
• Experience scripting with Python, Perl, Bash or PowerShell
• Experience with programming languages like Python, JavaScript, Go, .Net, Java or equivalent
• Experience in systems administration (Linux or Windows)
• Experience with virtualization (Hypervisors, VMware, Xen), or experience in software development and experience in managing and troublshooting network
• Experience managing full application stacks from the OS up through custom applications, or experience in managing and troublshooting network and experience in networking administration and troubleshooting

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
