Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Richmond seeks an Operations, Education, and Research Administrator in the Department of Surgery. You will provide strategic and operational leadership across financial, HR, academic, and research domains to support the SOM and university goals.

The role serves as a key advisor to department leadership, oversees residency and education programs, manages budgets and grants, ensures compliance with regulations, and drives process improvements

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in business administration or a closely related field is required.
• Five to seven years of progressively responsible professional experience in administration, operations, or a related field.
• Experience supporting sponsored research and grants administration.
• Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences.

Responsibilities

• The Operations, Education, and Research Administrator provides strategic and operational leadership for the university’s department-wide functions.
• Acts as a strategic advisor to department leadership on business and operational matters.
• Develops short- and long-term plans for the department’s business affairs and operational needs.
• Directs strategic priorities, resource allocation, and university initiatives.
• Facilitates and supports faculty and staff research initiatives and grants administration.
• Oversees residency, fellowship, graduate and undergraduate educational programs.
