Job summary

INEOS Pigments seeks an experienced executive to join the Board, providing leadership for safe, reliable operations across three sites in Ashtabula, Ohio and Tyssedal, Norway. The role drives capital strategy, business performance, and ethical governance, aligning technology with business goals.

The candidate will lead talent development, manage headcount, and promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement across the Pigments Group.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or a related field.
  • 15+ years in chemical manufacturing including SHE, operations, maintenance, project management, technology, procurement, logistics, and business management.
  • Strong leadership and change management capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, legal, and reliable operation across three Pigments Group sites (Ashtabula, OH; Tyssedal, Norway).
  • Lead CAPEX planning and 5-year capital plan development for the business.
  • Drive performance and profitability through cross-functional leadership and strategy execution.
  • Foster talent development, succession planning, and development of capable teams.
  • Champion process and behavioural safety, and ensure adherence to safety principles.

Board Position Responsibilities

This role is a Board position within the INEOS Pigments Group business and the incumbent is also a member of the Pigments Group Exco. The position provides leadership for safe operations and manufacturing excellence at the three manufacturing locations in Ashtabula, Ohio and Tyssedal, Norway.

Accountability 1: Functional Management
  • Setting direction and ensuring business value delivery from the functional area (meet needs while minimizing cost).
  • Safe, legally compliant, and reliable operation of the three Pigments Group sites.
  • Cost control and cost leadership (focus on driving out costs).
  • Leading Pigments Group Technology to align business strategy with technology capability and deployment.
  • CAPEX 5‑year plan development and management for the entire business, ensuring projects are executed with capital efficiency.
Accountability 2: Member of the INEOS Pigments Board
  • Ensure business is operated in complete legal compliance and in accordance with ethical business standards.
  • Leverage the expertise and scale of functions and manufacturing to maximize business profitability.
  • Management of business performance, and intervention/leadership as needed to drive results.
  • Contribute to the development and promotion of business strategy, growth opportunities, and plans through deep business knowledge and cross‑functional relationships.
  • Assist in developing effective and capable teams to deliver business strategy and performance consistent with the organization.
Accountability 3: Drive Behaviour and Process Safety Excellence
  • Champion the 20 principles of process and behavioural safety, the INEOS Group Guidance Notes (IGGNs), and life‑saving rules.
  • Ensure each site adheres to the INEOS 20 safety principles (10 behavioural and 10 process) and that concrete plans close any gaps.
  • Ensure each site completes the 10‑P external audits on a 3‑year cycle.
  • Participate in the weekly Pigments Group SHE Call to encourage discussions around shared learnings.
  • Ensure shared learnings from sites, other businesses, and industry are communicated on a timely basis.
  • Within each site performance contract, establish SHE targets to drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide oversight of Pigments Group Safety policies to assure adherence.
Accountability 4: Leadership
  • Actively manage headcount for improved productivity across the business.
  • Manage and retain talent, skills, and capabilities needed to maintain Pigments Group leadership.
  • Actively manage succession for critical roles and capabilities to ensure technical superiority.
  • Foster a work environment that maximizes individual and team performance.
  • Develop and maintain KPIs to monitor performance and progress against agreed plans.
  • Identify and coach high‑potential leaders for future opportunities within INEOS.
  • Lead by example; model a sense of urgency, ownership, and discipline in execution.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or a related field.
  • 15+ years in the Chemical Manufacturing Industry, encompassing experience in SHE, Operations, Maintenance, Project Management, Technology, Procurement, Logistics, and Business Management.
Technical Skills
  • Applied engineering and manufacturing management skills, including process optimisation, troubleshooting, engineering design, and project management/execution.
  • Budgeting and cost control.
  • Economic analysis to support portfolio decisions and project selection.
  • Leadership in SHE, with deep understanding of Process Safety Management (OSHA 1910 and COMAH) protocols and execution.
Behavioural Skills
  • Strong leadership and delegation skills due to a wide span of control, broad geographic scope, and breadth of technical knowledge.
