Job summary

McCormick Tribune Ice Rink in Millennium Park in Chicago is seeking an Operations Coordinator to support the Operations Manager by developing and executing ice programs, leagues, and tournaments while coordinating daily facility schedules.

You will work with program leaders and other departments to deliver quality experiences, supervise and train staff, and assist with event setup, tear-down, and cross-functional support as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in recreation sports management or related field with 3-5 years experience preferred.
• Experience developing, marketing and selling recreation and training programs.
• Knowledge of audio and visual programming and development.
• Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving negotiation skills.
• Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends, nights and holidays.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Operations Manager with development and execution of ice programs, camps, leagues, and tournaments.
• Manage ongoing facility schedules.
• Develop programming targeting corporate, group, adult, youth, family, and special interest groups.
• Track and report weekly programs and attendance.
• Oversee all aspects of programs and special activities.
• Supervise, train, manage and motivate team members.
• Participate in event setup and execution, attend scheduled events and meetings, and assist other departments during events.
• Assist with changeover personnel assignments for events.
• Complete special projects and daily tasks as directed by the Operations Director.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Operations Coordinator will be responsible for a variety of duties dependent upon the need for the day while providing participants with a quality program experience. The coordinator will work closely with the individual leaders of each program as well as other internal departments in order to successfully accomplish these responsibilities.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

• Assist the Operations Manager with the development and execution of the facility's ice programs, camps, leagues, and tournaments
• Manage ongoing facility schedules
• Assist with the development of programming to target various markets ranging from corporate, group, adult, youth, family, and special interest groups
• Track and report weekly programs and attendance
• Oversee all aspects of programs and special activities
• Supervise, train, manage and motivate team members
• Actively participates in other operational functions as necessary, including but not limited to event setup and execution, attending all scheduled events and meetings, assisting other departments during outside or special events, etc.
• Assist with assignments of appropriate changeover personnel to accurately and efficiently set-up and tear down events
• Complete special projects, daily assignments and other duties as directed by the Operations Director

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have proven track record of developing, marketing, and selling recreation and training programs
• Must have knowledge of audio and visual programming and development
• Must have excellent interpersonal and problem-solving negotiating skills
• Must be a team player
• Must have verbal and written communications skills
• Must have excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
• Must be able to work flexible schedules including weekends, nights and holidays
• Must possess current CPR/FIRST AID certifications or must be willing to obtain them within a specified period of time
• A bachelor's degree in recreation sports management or related field with 3-5 years appropriate experience preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds
• May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time indoors or outdoors
• Will be required to operate a computer
• Facility has intermittent noise
