Responsibilities

  • Handle material movement, loading and unloading trucks, and moving staged materials between buildings.
  • Perform quality inspections on incoming and finished products to ensure quality standards.
  • Support shipping and administrative functions, including paperwork and data entry.
  • Maintain inventory counts and organize workspace per 5S/lean principles.
  • Follow safety procedures, 5S, and SOPs; report any injuries or unsafe conditions.
  • Operate equipment such as PIVs (forklifts, pallet jacks, stackers) safely.

Job description

Job DescriptionThe Operations Clerk is responsible for material handling, shipping and receiving activities, quality inspection, and inventory management functions. This position performs a variety of production and warehouse functions, including loading and unloading trucks, moving staged materials between buildings, performing quality inspections on incoming and outgoing products, and supporting shipping and administrative functions as needed. Employees are responsible for following work instructions, performing quality inspections, and ensuring products meet established quality standards. This role requires the ability to work safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while standing for extended periods, lifting and moving materials, and supporting overall production and operational goals.Overtime: Employees must be willing to work in excess of 8 hours in one shift as business conditions require it. Employees must be willing and available to work weekends on an ongoing basis if needed. Overtime will be paid for all hours worked in excess of forty hours in any one week.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Must be able to successfully follow directions and adhere to all safety and work instructions.Ensure production is to established quality standards.Must be a team player who works effectively with others and contributes to a positive work environment.Must be able to safely operate PIVs (Powered Industrial Vehicles i.e. fork trucks, pallet jacks, and walk-behind stackers) and industrial wrappers, and be able to safely load and unload trucks.Receive and load trucks and move staged material between buildings, including picking, packing, loading, and unloading using a forklift.Perform all required quality inspections on incoming raw materials, WIP, and finished products.Store pipe and coupling stock per procedure and assist in shipping according to FIFO.Take necessary steps to protect pipe and coupling stock from UV degradation.Accurately use and read dial calipers, height gauges, depth gauges, and PI tapes.Excellent attention to detail with the ability to consistently identify products and product defects.Gather necessary products and materials accurately for all customer orders assigned.Assist in packing products or assembling valves as needed.Fill in administratively for the Shipping Supervisor by preparing paperwork or receiving loads electronically as directed.Assist in maintaining inventory counts by weighing and counting WIP, finished products, raw materials, environmental waste, and recycled scrap.Ability to use a computer to complete forms and arrange shipments.Be able to cross-train as a Machine Operator or Warehouse Assembler as needed.Follow established work instructions and standard operating procedures to maintain product quality and consistency.Follow all safety procedures and guidelines.Report immediately to their supervisor any injury, unsafe act or condition, or any failure or impending failure of plant equipment.Perform all “5S” Daily Requirements and maintain a clean and organized workspace.Complete all required paperwork, documentation, record keeping, and inventory accurately and legibly.Communicate immediately any unsafe conditions or non-conforming raw materials or products.Meet established productivity, quality, and safety expectations.Qualifications:Ability to effectively communicate with supervisors and coworkers.Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift.Ability to read and understand work instructions, shipping paperwork, and production documentation.Basic mechanical aptitude and technical skills required.Ability to safely lift up to 40 pounds.Ability to safely use hand tools and basic measuring devices.Ability to use a computer for data entry, forms, and shipment processing.Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.Experience operating pallet jacks and material handling equipment preferred.Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently.Working ConditionsEmployee will be working in a warehouse/manufacturing environment.Employee will lift up to 40 lbs, generally 5–40 lbs.Frequent lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and standing.Employee may have to work on weekends, overtime, or different shifts.Employee will wear personal protective equipment at all times such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, gloves, etc.
