Job summary

ASM Global is seeking a facilities/maintenance worker to support event setup, cleaning, and ongoing building upkeep at our Wichita and Andover venues.

You will assist with flooring, furniture, and equipment installation, perform cleaning and minor repairs, and work flexible hours including nights and weekends to ensure events run smoothly. Strong physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy items are required, along with a safe, team-oriented approach.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 1-3 years related experience preferred.
  • Willingness to learn site-specific procedures.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of event setup and cleaning practices.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools safely.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in event conversion prep, setting up flooring, chairs, walls, barricades and tables.
  • Load/unload trucks, move trash, replenish supplies.
  • Assist with pre/post event cleaning: sweeping, mopping, dusting and waxing.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance: painting, re-lamping, replace tiles/filters.
  • Assist engineers and contractors in building maintenance.
  • Report safety issues to supervisor promptly.
  • Work nights, weekends, holidays as needed.
  • Regular attendance is essential.
  • Work at all Wichita and Andover Legends Global venues.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Job description

Summary:

Under general supervision performs work as needed to clean, maintain, and prepare for events at the facility. Duties include skilled and semi-skilled tasks, which often require heavy lifting and a high degree of physical exertion.

Responsibilities ** :
  • Participate in all aspects of the conversion process in preparation for events. Duties may include setting up and tearing down flooring, portable chairs, operable wall, barricades, staging, tables, other furnishings, and equipment.

  • Perform varies duties to ensure the day-to-day operations of the facility are met. These include, but not limited to, loading/unloading delivery trucks, transporting trash and waste to proper disposal area and replenishing supplies.

  • Assist with pre/post event cleaning and janitorial tasks including, but not limited to, sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash removal, vacuuming, spot cleaning, washing, stripping, carpet cleaning, window washing and waxing.

  • Perform repairs and maintenance tasks such as painting, patching, re-lamping, replacing ceiling tile, replacing filters, etc.

  • Assist building engineers and subcontractors in construction, repair, and maintenance of the building.

  • Report irregularities, discrepancies, safety or damage concerns or loss of property promptly to supervisor.

  • Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.

  • Regular attendance is an essential job function.

  • Position requires the ability to work at all Wichita and Andover Legends Global venues.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Demonstrate knowledge of practices and procedures related to event set-up and conversions; typical methods and techniques for cleaning and maintaining the facility; and proper use and care of hand and power tools.

  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.

  • Follow all policies/procedures, risk management, safety precautions, rules, regulations and emergency procedures established at the facility.

  • Meet the physical demands of the job. Must perform strenuous physical duties at times, including lifting, carrying, moving and climbing.

  • Operate equipment such as light trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, boom lifts, Zamboni machine, scrubbing machines or other light power-driven equipment.

  • Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with other in both oral and written form.

  • Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.

  • Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results.

  • Work independently, exercising judgment and initiative.

  • Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons and others encountered in the course of employment.

  • Be licensed and insured to operate a motor vehicle in the State of Kansas.

  • Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.

Education and/or Experience:
  • High school diploma or G.E.D., preferred.

  • One (1) to three (3) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to be on-time.

  • Ability to work quickly and safely.

  • Ability to lift 75 lbs (with or without accommodation)

  • Organized

  • Ability to take direction.

  • Ability to listen.

  • Willing to take initiative.

Physical Demands

Physical requirements include the ability to operate tools (both hand and electric), forklift, scissor lift, and walk around the facility, ability to be walking or standing more than sitting. Must be able to hear and speak to use two-way radio. Indoor/outdoor work required within seasonal temperatures, may be exposed to extreme heat or cold.
