Job summary

Bridgestone Arena is seeking a Carpenter to support Operations. You will perform finish and rough carpentry, install doors and frames, read blueprints, and participate in facility maintenance projects across the arena complex.

The role requires self-direction, safety compliance, and teamwork in a dynamic environment. Responsibilities include drywall work, millwork, hardware, painting, and occasional on-call duties.

Qualifications

  • 5 years’ experience in finish and rough carpentry.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Capable of working in a team and adhering to safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Hang and finish drywall.
  • Install/hang door frames and doors.
  • Frame with metal or wood.
  • Cut, shape and smooth lumber per measurements.
  • Assemble furniture, cabinets, shelves and install as designated.
  • Install and repair lock mechanisms.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance programs.
  • Perform facility maintenance tasks (millwork, hardware, tile, painting).
  • Read technical documents and blueprints.
  • Operate equipment and tools safely.
  • Be on call as assigned.
  • Work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and some holidays.

Job Reports To: Director, Facilities Maintenance & Project Management

Status: Non-Exempt

Major Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Ability to hang and finish drywall.
  • Install/hang door frames and doors.
  • Ability to frame with metal or wood.
  • Cut, shape and smooth lumber and other material according to measurements.
  • Carve and assemble furniture, cabinets, shelves and other items and install where designated.
  • Install and repair lock mechanisms.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance programs.
  • Maintenance and repair of facility, including but not limited to: millwork, door hardware, tile, finishes, painting, and other special projects as assigned.
  • Assist operations personnel as directed.
  • Assist in other projects assigned by management.
  • Knowledge of stains and finishes.
  • 5 years’ experience in finish and rough carpentry.
  • Basic knowledge of general facility maintenance.
  • Knowledge of stains and finishes.
  • Welding experience preferred but not required.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must be a self-directed worker who sets an example for performing quality and professional work.
  • Ability to read and write and understand complex directions.
  • Must possess excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction.
  • Proficient in using electrical and mechanical equipment and measurement tools.
  • Ability to read technical documents, drawings and blueprints.
  • Ability to be on call as assigned.
  • Ability to work as a team player.
  • Must be knowledgeable of and adhere to safety regulations.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and some holidays.
  • As a condition of employment, qualified applicant will be subject to a background check, including a criminal history check, driver history and character references.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license, possess a suitable driving history and be insurable by the Organization’s insurance carrier.

Essential Physical Functions

  • Good physical condition and health, sufficient strength and stamina needed for heavy, awkward and repeated lifting of up to 75 lbs., carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity.
  • Capable of performing heavy manual labor for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to walk and stand on concrete and uneven surfaces for at least 8 hours per day.
  • Ability to carry, move, bend, kneel and work with arms raised for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to work in extreme temperature changes from ice arena to outdoors in inclement weather.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to climb portable and fixed ladders.
  • Ability to work in different degrees of heights.

Equipment Used

  • Table saws, power tools, drill press and various hand tools as needed.
  • Forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts and other light duty machinery as needed.
