The Role

Vale Concepts is seeking a hands-on Operations & Facilities Maintenance Technician to support the reliability, safety, and continuous improvement of our production facility. This role is responsible for maintaining production equipment, facility systems, and utilities to ensure that operations remain safe, efficient, and dependable.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, proactive, and comfortable troubleshooting equipment and facility issues in a growing manufacturing environment. This person will perform routine maintenance and repairs, coordinate specialized service providers when necessary, recommend equipment and facility improvements, and help develop a formal preventive maintenance program.

This is a flexible, operations-focused role. When maintenance priorities allow, this position will also support production activities, including ingredient handling, equipment operation, packaging, sanitation, and other tasks necessary to meet production schedules and business needs.

Key Responsibilities
Production Equipment Maintenance
  • Perform routine inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs on production and packaging equipment.
  • Identify equipment issues and respond promptly to minimize production downtime.
  • Support equipment installations, modifications, commissioning, and improvement projects.
  • Maintain equipment in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and company safety requirements.
  • Coordinate with equipment manufacturers, contractors, and service technicians when specialized support is required.
  • Recommend equipment repairs, upgrades, replacements, or modifications that improve safety, reliability, sanitation, or production efficiency.
  • Maintain an organized inventory of commonly used tools, spare parts, and maintenance supplies.
Preventive Maintenance
  • Assist with developing and implementing a preventive maintenance program for production equipment, facility systems, and utilities.
  • Create and maintain preventive maintenance schedules, checklists, service records, and equipment histories.
  • Ensure scheduled maintenance activities are completed and properly documented.
  • Review maintenance trends and recurring equipment failures to identify opportunities for corrective action and long-term improvement.
  • Help establish critical spare-parts requirements and recommended replacement intervals.
Facility and Utility Maintenance
  • Monitor and maintain the general condition of the production facility, including walls, floors, doors, lighting, plumbing, drains, and other building components.
  • Monitor facility utilities and support systems, including water, compressed air, HVAC, electrical service, and sanitation infrastructure.
  • Perform basic facility repairs within the employee's training and authorization.
  • Coordinate qualified contractors for work requiring specialized licensing or expertise.
  • Identify facility deficiencies and recommend improvements that support safety, food production, sanitation, and operational growth.
  • Support facility inspections and ensure maintenance-related corrective actions are completed.
Production Support
  • Support production operations as needed based on maintenance workload, staffing levels, and production priorities.
  • Assist with weighing and staging ingredients, operating blending and packaging equipment, packaging finished products, and completing production documentation.
  • Follow approved batch sheets, standard operating procedures, and quality requirements.
  • Perform equipment setup, changeovers, cleaning, sanitation, and line-clearance activities.
  • Help maintain an efficient workflow and communicate production issues, equipment concerns, or material shortages to the appropriate team members.
  • Remain flexible in daily assignments and assist with other operational tasks necessary to meet production schedules.
Safety, Food Safety, and Documentation
  • Follow all company safety procedures, including lockout/tagout requirements.
  • Never perform electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, or other specialized work without the appropriate training and authorization.
  • Complete maintenance activities in a manner that protects exposed ingredients, packaging, and finished products.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices and sanitation requirements while working in production areas.
  • Communicate equipment status, safety concerns, and maintenance needs clearly to production leadership.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, preventive maintenance, parts usage, and contractor service.
  • Keep maintenance workspaces, tools, parts, and supplies clean, organized, and properly stored.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in equipment maintenance, facilities maintenance, manufacturing operations, or a related technical role.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and practical troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience maintaining production, packaging, or food-manufacturing equipment is preferred.
  • Experience developing or supporting a preventive maintenance program is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in production or manufacturing operations is preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to support hands‑on production activities when needed.
  • Ability to safely use common hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.

  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with production employees, managers, contractors, and equipment suppliers.
  • Willingness to work in a growing environment where responsibilities, equipment, processes, and facility needs continue to evolve.
Physical Requirements
