Job description

My client is a specialist emerging markets investor managing $5 billion across Emerging Markets. Its edge comes from deep regional expertise and a collaborative, low-ego culture. The operations team is central to that, keeping trading, settlement and reporting accurate across some of the world’s most complex markets.

This is an unusual chance to build real expertise in EM operations, a skill set that is scarce and highly valued across the industry. You’ll work directly with PMs, traders and finance, get hands‑on exposure to local market settlement, and have a genuine say in how processes evolve. Progression is clear and merit‑based.

What you’ll be doing
  • Monitoring, confirming and settling trades across EM local currency bonds, hard currency debt, FX (including NDFs), equities and derivatives, resolving breaks and fails quickly
  • Navigating local market settlement practices, cut‑off times and holiday calendars across multiple time zones
  • Running daily position, cash and P&L reconciliations with prime brokers, global and local custodians and administrators
  • Investigating discrepancies and escalating with clear ownership and timelines
  • Supporting OTC derivatives processing, including confirmations, fixings, lifecycle events and collateral and margin management
  • Managing corporate actions, income processing and cash movements, including wire requests and approvals
  • Supporting tax and regulatory processes such as withholding tax reclaims, market registrations and repatriation or capital control requirements
  • Partnering with brokers, custodians, administrators and internal teams to keep information accurate and timely
  • Contributing to month‑end close, NAV review and investor reporting
  • Documenting procedures and finding ways to automate and strengthen controls
  • Supporting audits, ad hoc projects and regulatory requests
Who my client is looking for
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Accounting, Engineering or a related field
  • 1–3 years’ operations experience at a hedge fund, asset manager, prime broker, bank or fund administrator
  • Solid knowledge of financial instruments and the trade lifecycle; EM, FX or fixed income exposure strongly preferred
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the discipline to stay accurate under tight deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills and a habit of getting to the root cause
  • Advanced Excel; SQL, Python or VBA is a bonus
  • Clear communicator, comfortable with senior stakeholders and external counterparties
  • A self‑starter who takes ownership in a fast‑moving environment
