Job summary

Allison Transmission is seeking an Operations Advanced Quality Engineer to champion quality planning for cross-drive transmission development. You will lead a structured process to ensure smooth launches of high-quality cross-drive transmissions, collaborating across engineering and manufacturing teams.

The role requires 3+ years in quality planning, knowledge of AIAG and IATF 16949, and a strong quality engineering background.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or higher preferred.
  • Shainin Red X Apprentice or higher preferred.
  • Certified Quality Engineer preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead quality planning for cross-drive transmission projects.
  • Develop and maintain Control Plans for transmissions.
  • Perform FMEA to identify risks early in design.
  • Analyze warranty and first-time quality data.
  • Coordinate design for manufacturability and assembly events.
  • Present best practices for transmission quality.

Job Description:

As the Operations Advanced Quality Engineer, you will be a champion for implementing quality planning methodologies for cross-drive transmission development projects. You'll be central part in ensuring the smooth and efficient launch of high-quality Allison cross-drive transmissions.

  • Uphold and promote the company's values of quality, integrity, innovation, customer focus and teamwork.
  • Lead and participate in all phases of the transmission development, focusing on implementing a structured quality planning process.
  • Facilitate seamless collaboration between product engineering, manufacturing engineering, and other departments throughout the project.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive Control Plans specific to transmissions, ensuring they address critical quality considerations.
  • Assure thorough Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify potential quality risks early in the design phase, with a keen eye for transmission‑specific failure modes.
  • Analyze warranty, customer, and internal first‑time quality data to mitigate recurrence in future products.
  • Assurance to Allison manufacturing best practices by coordinating design for manufacturing and design for assembly events.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations on best practices for achieving exceptional transmission quality within internal teams.
Qualifications:
  • Required: Bachelors degree in Engineering or related field
  • Preferred: Six Sigma Green Belt or Higher
  • Preferred: Shainin Red X Apprentice or Higher
  • Preferred: Certified Quality Engineer.
Experience:
  • Required: 3+ years of experience in quality planning or a related field
  • Required: Proven experience applying AIAG best practices for quality control.
  • Required: Experience with integrated management systems (IATF 16949, ISO9001)
  • Preferred: Experience with transmission components, functionality, and common failure modes.
Scope Factors:
  • Requires general understanding of broad concepts related to Master Production Scheduling. Will team/partner with other Master Schedulers to develop skills and experience.
  • No direct management responsibilities
  • Frequently interacts with direct manager and direct team members. Occasionally interacting with peers within broader function or across functions.
  • Applies experience and skills to complete assigned work within own area of expertise.
  • Builds knowledge of the organization, processes, and customers.
  • Requires knowledge and experience in own discipline/ still acquiring higher level knowledge and skills.
  • Analyses possible solutions using standard procedures.
  • Individual contributor or may coordinate and propose process improvement opportunities within role.
