Job summary

GCS-SIGAL is seeking an Operational Excellence Manager to act as the internal standard-bearer for process quality, systems compliance, and project delivery. You will enforce company-wide standards across all active projects, drive continuous improvement, and ensure field and office teams operate at peak efficiency.

This cross-functional role covers project operations, technology systems, safety coordination, training support, and data reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, business, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in commercial construction with field and project management exposure.
  • Experience with OpenSpace, Outbuild, P6 and Bluebeam; familiarity with Lean construction principles.

Responsibilities

  • Define and enforce OpEx standards across multiple projects.
  • Audit projects for compliance with company standards including safety, documentation, scheduling, and financial controls.
  • Support onboarding and training for operations staff on standard procedures.
  • Generate monthly compliance reports and quarterly health assessments for project leadership.

Position Overview

The Operational Excellence Manager serves as GCS-SIGAL's internal standard-bearer for process quality, systems compliance, and project delivery consistency. This individual will report to the Directors of Operations and works across all active projects to enforce company-wide standards, drive continuous improvement, and ensure our field and office teams operate at the highest level of efficiency and professionalism.

This is a cross-functional role that spans project operations, technology systems, safety coordination, training support, and data reporting. The right candidate is a highly motivated self-starting individual that understands the construction business from the ground up, communicates with authority and clarity at every level of the organization, and is relentlessly focused on keeping GCS-SIGAL a premier general contractor.

Operational Excellence Manager responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Process discipline: Consistent ability to define, communicate, and enforce standards across a complex, multi-project environment.
  • Accountability: Follows through on commitments and holds teams to the same standard with fairness and clarity.
  • Systems thinking: Connects individual process gaps to broader operational outcomes and recommends durable solutions.
  • Communication: Conveys complex information simply and adapts style effectively across field staff, PMs, and executive leadership.
  • Collaboration: Partners across departments without creating friction, and is trusted equally in the field and the office.
  • Continuous improvement mindset: Proactively identifies inefficiency and drives change rather than waiting to be asked.
Project Operations & Standards Enforcement
  • Collaborate with executive team to assess existing OpEx standards, refine as needed, and implement across all projects.
  • Work with executive team to identify, develop, and implement standard operating procedures to serve project teams as a playbook with a focus on project delivery, field documentation, and office operations.
  • Audit projects for compliance with GCS-SIGAL standards and procedures, including construction administration, document control, safety, scheduling, and financial controls. This will require rotating site visits, documenting findings, and tracking corrective actions through resolution.
  • Ensure project teams are effectively utilizing company technology platforms (Procore, OpenSpace, Outbuild, P6, Compass) and generate compliance reporting to executive team.
Training & Talent Development Support
  • Support onboarding process for all new operations staff, covering expectations of relevant company standards and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain training materials and standard operating procedures for operations staff.
  • Support performance evaluation cycles by providing process compliance data to project leadership and HR.
Continuous Improvement
  • Facilitate quarterly OpEx Roundtables with project leadership to surface recurring issues, share best practices, and drive systemic improvements.
  • Benchmark GCS-SIGAL practices against peer general contractors and recommend applicable best practices.
  • Lead or support rollout of new process improvements resulting from annual program reviews.
Reporting & Leadership Communication
  • Issue monthly compliance summaries for all projects related to company standards and procedures.
  • Conduct formal quarterly Project Health Assessments on key projects and present findings with actionable recommendations.
  • Contribute to the annual OpEx Program Review presented to company leadership.
Experience/Education
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in commercial construction, with exposure to both field and project management functions.
  • Experience with OpenSpace, Outbuild, P6 and Bluebeam.
  • Familiarity with Lean construction principles and continuous improvement frameworks.
  • Experience in quality assurance, process improvement, or operations support function within a commercial GC.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Demonstrated mastery in Procore, including project setup, reporting, financials, and workflow configuration.
  • Strong working knowledge of construction project delivery, including scheduling, financial controls, submittals, RFIs, and change management.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and a track record of enforcing process standards across multiple
