Job summary

Inalab is seeking an Operational Database Specialist / General Engineer in Silver Spring, MD (Hybrid). The role entails drafting and updating SOPs, analyzing data, and producing regular reports in clear English.

You will support NOAA NWS under the System Engineering and Analysis Support Services Contract. Qualifications include a 2‑ and 4‑year degree, 5–7 years in general engineering, and the ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) preferred.
• 5–7 years of experience in general engineering.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Team‑oriented approach.

Operational Database Specialist / General Engineer

Location: Silver Spring, MD (Hybrid role)

Overview

Inalab has an immediate opening for an Operational Database Specialist / General Engineer to support the NOAA National Weather Service (NWS) Office of Dissemination under the System Engineering and Analysis Support Services Contract.

Responsibilities

• Draft and update Standard Operating Procedures.
• Draft data analyses and reports.
• Provide daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports in clear, concise written English.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) preferred.
• 5–7 years of experience in general engineering.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Team‑oriented approach.

Excel Experience

• Lookup tables.
• Selection (dropdown) lists.
• Manipulation and export of data.

Access Experience

• Develop and maintain relational tables.
• Lookup tables.
• Develop complex queries from multiple tables.
• Scripting to create queries that update data and generate reports.

Desired Experience

• Scripting (Python, Perl).
• Experience with GIS.
• General knowledge of telecommunications systems (VHF transmitters, receivers, antennas), electronics, mapping, topography, and database systems.
