Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering/Data Science, or a related field.
- Active Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain an Interim Secret Clearance prior to start.
- 7–10+ years of experience with algorithmic and software application development, structured programming development using version control tools such as Git or Subversion, Python programming with libraries such as Polars, Pandas, Pydantic, handling XML and JSON formats, and front‑end technologies including Markdown, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Strong understanding of data velocity, volume, variety, and veracity concepts; experience with structured and unstructured datasets in operational environments.
- Comprehensive knowledge of data modeling, integration, and database design principles.
- Experience applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques to accelerate performance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Security+ Certification.
- Experience designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes using programming skills.
- Experience building and maintaining large‑scale data ingestion, transformation, and analytics workflows.
- Experience with data orchestration and automation tools; knowledge of data governance best practices.
- Strong background with multi‑parameter, time‑based data series, especially Meteorology and Oceanography datasets.
- Experience with ESRI Technologies such as Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Pro / Desktop tools, and ESRI Workflow Manager.
- Experience with Cybersecurity best practices and DISA STIG checklists.
- Experience with container technologies and cloud platforms.
- Knowledge of RDBMS databases such as PostgreSQL with PostGIS, SQL Server, or Oracle.
- Experience integrating geospatial data systems with enterprise data platforms and APIs such as NOAA’s Environmental Research Division’s Data Access (ERDDAP) platform.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain scalable data architectures, pipelines, and automated workflows.
- Integrate data from diverse operational, scientific, and geospatial sources into enterprise systems.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, availability, and security across the data lifecycle.
- Collaborate with scientists, analysts, software developers, and mission stakeholders to deliver data‑driven capabilities.
- Help lead the design, development, testing, deployment, and sustainment of software applications supporting NAVOCEANO and CNMOC missions.
- Support modernization efforts involving cloud technologies, geospatial systems, and advanced analytics platforms.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical strategy and best practices.
