Job summary

Siemens Energy is seeking an Operational Buyer to execute procurement strategies across assigned commodities, collaborate with global teams, and ensure timely purchase orders, quality, and supplier performance.

You will leverage SAP procurement and advanced Excel analytics, drive cost-saving initiatives, and support operational excellence in a manufacturing/power environment. Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, or engineering.
  • 3–4 years in direct purchasing or supply chain roles.
  • Experience in manufacturing or power generation environments.
  • SAP procurement (Buy) knowledge and strong Excel analytics.
  • Excellent communication and cross-cultural collaboration skills.
  • Strategic thinking and continuous improvement experience.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with global/local commodity teams to optimize planning and execution.
  • Manage sourcing activities: RFQ, supplier evaluations, negotiations, selections.
  • Oversee PO lifecycle: confirmations, quality, supplier performance.
  • Implement procurement strategies: pricing, vendor onboarding, lead times.
  • Lead supplier coordination on technical, logistics, and contract matters.
  • Drive process improvements and achieve KPIs for savings and delivery.

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Collaborate with global/local commodity management and material planning teams to optimize procurement planning, alignment, and execution.
  • Manage sourcing activities, including RfQs, supplier evaluations, technical clarifications, total cost analysis, negotiations, and supplier selection.
  • Oversee purchase order lifecycle management, ensuring timely execution, order confirmations, quality compliance, and supplier performance.
  • Implement procurement strategies for assigned commodities, including pricing, supplier mix, vendor onboarding, lead times, and budget performance management.
  • Lead supplier and stakeholder coordination on technical, contractual, logistics, transportation, customs, and claim management matters.
  • Drive continuous improvement in procurement processes, data quality, and supplier base performance while achieving KPIs related to savings, on-time delivery, claims, and process quality.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3–4 years of experience in direct purchasing, material requirements planning, or comparable supply chain role.
  • Experience in manufacturing or power generation environments, with proficiency in SAP procurement ("Buy") modules and advanced Excel-based data analysis.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, influencing, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across cultures and drive results.
  • Demonstrated capability in strategic thinking, continuous process improvement, and supporting operational excellence initiatives.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.

Gas Services

Our Gas Services division offers Low-emission power generation through service and decarbonization. Zero or low emission power generation and all gas turbines under one roof, steam turbines and generators. Decarbonization opportunities through service offerings, modernization, and digitalization of the fleet.
